Football Bet of the Day: The Robins to Find Their Range In Front of Goal Once Again

Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me turn my attention to the EFL, and there is one team in particular who appeals to me for goals.

High-scoring Swindon Town welcome Walsall to The County Ground on Saturday afternoon in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Michael Flynn’s hosts have made an unbeaten start to the season, collecting 12 points across their opening six matches (W3-D3-L0), to sit just three points behind league leaders Gillingham despite playing a game fewer than all the sides above them in the table. After throwing away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at home to Crewe on the opening day of the season, The Robins have gone on to defeat Crawley Town (6-0) and Sutton United (5-3) in their next two home fixtures, highlighting their potency in front of goal.

Walsall sit just a point and four places worse off than their upcoming opponents, as they stretched their unbeaten run to four matches last time out, as they came from a goal down to defeat struggling Salford City 2-1. That victory last time out was Mat Sadler’s Saddlers first away victory of the season, as they had previously lost at Morecambe (2-1) and Wrexham (4-2), as well as throwing away a two-goal lead in stoppage-time to draw 2-2 against, you guessed it, Crewe.

Despite playing a game fewer than all bar one side in League Two, Swindon are the highest-scorers in the division, having scored an eye-catching 20 goals across their opening six matches, with 13 of those coming on home soil. The Robins have scored on multiple occasions in five (83%) of those matches – including in each of their opening three as hosts – and I’m backing them to bag another double against a Walsall defence that has registered a solitary clean sheet across their previous 12 League Two tussles on the road since the end of February, shipping two or more in nine (75%) of them.
