Football Bet of the Day: Search Salford For Goals On Sunday

Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the match in League Two, and I’m predicting a high-scoring encounter.

Morecambe will look to continue their push towards the League Two playoff places as they travel to Moor Lane to take on 20th-placed Salford in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Karl Robinson’s hosts have scored 55 goals across their opening 38 matches in League Two this term, with 30 (55%) of them coming on home turf. The Ammies have made the net bulge in 15/19 (79%) of their league contests in front of their supporters – scoring on multiple occasions in five of their last seven – and will look to breach a Morecambe defence that has registered a solitary clean sheet on their travels this season, shipping multiple goals in 12/19 (63%) of them.

Ged Brannan’s visitors have scored 56 goals across their opening 37 matches in the English fourth-tier this term, with 32 (57%) of them coming on their travels. The Shrimps have found the back of the net in 13 of their last 17 league outings on the road – notching on multiple occasions in seven of their previous 10 – and will confident of breaching a Salford defence that has recorded a single shutout in front of their supporters in the league this season, shipping multiple goals in 14/19 (74%) of them.

Morecambe’s opening 19 League Two fixtures on their travels this campaign are averaging a league-high 3.95 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in 16 (84%) of them – and given Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals has landed in 13/19 (68%) of Salford’s home league outings – I’m happy to have a punt on there being at least three goals, with both of these defensively vulnerable sides finding the target.
