After frustratingly falling a Bodø/Glimt goal short on Sunday, Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the midweek action in the EFL, and there is one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

3rd-placed Ipswich travel to St Mary's tomorrow evening to take on 9th-placed Southampton in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Russell Martin’s hosts have scored 11 goals across their opening six Championship fixtures this campaign, with seven (64%) of them coming across their three matches in front of their supporters. The Saints have only failed to score at The Stadium of Light in the league this season – striking two or more goals in four (67%) of their matches – and they will look to breach an Ipswich defence that has registered three clean sheets across their opening six fixtures back in the English second tier, however, all three have come against teams currently positioned in 19th and below.
Only East Anglian rivals Norwich City (15) have scored more goals in the Championship this term than Ipswich, with The Tractor Boys scoring 12 goals across their opening six league outings. Kieran McKenna’s visitors are one of five clubs in the English second tier to have found the back of the net in each of their opening six Championship fixtures – banging in multiple goals in four (67%) of them – and they will surely relish coming up against a vulnerable Saints defence that is yet to register a clean sheet in the league this season, conceding a league-high 16 goals.

Southampton’s fixtures in the Championship have averaged a whopping 4.50 goals per game this season, with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals landing in 5/6 (83%) of them – and given half of Ipswich’s league outings this campaign have seen the same land – I’m happy to have a punt on there being a minimum of three goals, with both sides contributing in what is hopefully another high-scoring match involving The Saints.
