Rangers welcome Ajax to Ibrox on Tuesday evening, knowing they must win by five clear goals if they are to reach the knockout stages of the Europa League.
Rangers conceded three times in Naples against Napoli last week, as they went on to lose 3-0 to bring up last Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day. That’s now five defeats from five in Group A for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side, and they’ll look to restore some pride and get their first points of the campaign. The Gers do come into this fixture off the back of their best performance this season, as they thrashed bitter-rivals Aberdeen 4-1 in a match that could easily have finished 7-1.
Ajax began their Champions League campaign with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Rangers in Amsterdam, but that’s as good as it got for the reigning Dutch champions. Alfred Schreuder’s side have gone on to lose each of their next four group matches over both Liverpool and Napoli, eliminating them from the knockout stages of the competition. The Amsterdam club were given the weekend off by the Dutch FA, but they remain a point clear of PSV at the top of the Eredivisie table.

It would take a complete miracle for Rangers to finish above Ajax and qualify for the knockout stages of the Europa League, but Giovanni van Bronckhorst will seek to claim back a little bit of pride and claim their first points of their Champions League campaign. Both clubs are capable of scoring here but they both have looked vulnerable defensively this season – particularly Rangers – so I’m expecting goals in Govan on Tuesday night.
Collectively, over 2.5 goals has landed in 9/10 of the pair’s Champions League matches this season, with over 3.5 goals landing in five of them. If they are exactly three goals scored, we would receive our stake back, with four or more delivering a full payout.
