Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me take a break from the World Cup, and head to the Chinese Super League and one of the fixtures stand out to me for goals.

Two clubs in contrasting form in the Chinese Super League meet at the Wuyuan River Stadium tomorrow morning as in-form Chengdu Rongcheng host struggling Guangzhou FC.
Chengdu Rongcheng’s fine run of form continued last Friday as they defeated the other Guangzhou-based club, Guangzhou City 3-0. Seo Jung-won’s side are now unbeaten in each of their previous seven league outings, winning five of their last six. Chengdu Rongcheng have been strong at home this season, with them currently unbeaten in each of their last 11 league matches as hosts, winning four of their previous five.
Guangzhou FC drew for the second time in their last three matches, as they managed to hold Henan Songshan Longmen to a 1-1 draw last time out. However, the former eight-time champions have won just three times all season, and none of those have come in their previous 14 league outings. The South China Tigers have lost 11 of their 14 league matches on their travels this season, with their sole victory coming against rock-bottom Hebei.
Bet of the Day
Chengdu Rongcheng have been in scintillating form in front of goal in recent weeks, netting 16 across their previous five league matches – all of which at home – and they should make the net bulge at least twice against a Guangzhou FC defence that’s shipped 22 goals across their last eight league tussles.
To increase the price, I’m happy to throw in an extra match goal. Chengdu Rongcheng could easily cover this themselves, but despite their troubles this season, Ex-Celt Zheng Zhi has seen his struggling side find the back of the net in seven of their previous eight league matches, and I wouldn’t rule them out getting on the scoresheet in a match I expect to see at least three strikes.
