Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the MLS fixture in California, and I’m expecting an entertaining encounter between these two high-scoring sides.
⚽️ Los Angeles FC vs Atlanta United
⏰ Thursday 8th June, 03:30
LAFC will look to go level on points with Western Conference leaders St. Louis City as they welcome the entertainers of MLS Atlanta United to BMO Stadium in a fixture that promises goals.
Steve Cherundolo’s hosts have scored 23 goals across their opening 12 MLS fixtures, with 15 of those coming across their six home matches. The Black and Gold have found the back of the net in all six of their MLS contests as hosts – striking at least twice in five (83%) of them – and they should be more than capable of breaching an Atlanta defence without a clean sheet in each of their last seven road trips, conceding a whopping 18 goals in that run.
Gonzalo Pineda’s visitors are the second-highest scorers in MLS, banging in 32 goals across their opening 16 matches. The Five Stripes are the only remaining side in the entire MLS yet to fail to score this season – scoring on multiple in eight (50%) of them – and will look to trouble an LAFC defence that has kept two clean sheets at home in the league this season, as well as recording just one clean sheet across their previous six MLS assignments.
Bet of the Day
Over 2.5 Goals has banked in 12/16 (75%) of Atlanta United’s MLS fixtures this campaign – and given the same has landed in 5/6 (83%) of LAFC’s MLS matches on home turf – I’m more than happy to have a punt on there to be a minimum of three goals, with both sides contributing in what should be an entertaining game in California in the early hours of Thursday morning.
