Football Bet of the Day: Gunners to Go Five Points Clear at the Top

Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the match at The Emirates, and I’ve come up with a Bet Builder to help get the hosts onside.

Arsenal will look to move five points clear at the top of the Premier League table as they welcome relegation-threatened Everton to The Emirates this evening.

Arsenal suffered a tricky start to the New Year, winning just two of their opening six Premier League fixtures (W2-D2-L2). However, Mikel Arteta’s side appears to have gotten over that blip, as they came from behind twice to win 2-4 away at Aston Villa before defeating Leicester City 0-1 in a one-sided affair on Saturday. The Gunners have won eight of their 11 Premier League fixtures at the Emirates (W8-D2-L1), including all four against bottom-half sides.

Sean Dyche made the ideal start as Everton's boss with a 1-0 victory over Arsenal at Goodison Park at the beginning of last month. However, Everton has gone on to win just one of their next three Premier League fixtures, losing two of them, including a 0-2 defeat at home to Aston Villa at the weekend which saw them slip inside the relegation zone. The Toffees have won just once on their travels in the league this season (W1-D4-L6), losing five of their previous seven.

Bet of the Day

Everton may have won the reverse fixture at the beginning of last month, but it’s hard to envisage them completing the double at The Emirates. The Toffees struggle on the road whilst The Gunners appear to have gotten over their tricky start to the New Year.

Arsenal has drawn multiple cards from 18/24 (75%) of their Premier League opponents this season – including in nine of their previous 10 at home – whilst Everton has been shown two or more cards in seven of their last 10 Premier League assignments on their travels.
