Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into the Football League in England and there’s a game that stands out to me in the Championship which looks good for goals.

Preston North End vs Bristol City

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Championship

⏰ Saturday 29th January, 15:00

Two sides positioned in mid-table in the Championship go head to head at Deepdale, as Preston North End host Bristol City. The hosts come into this in 13th, three points and their places above their visiting opponents.

Preston ended their three-match winless run in midweek, as they became the first side to leave the Hawthorns this season with all three points. It’s been a pretty decent start for Ryan Lowe in charge of Preston, winning half of his six league games in charge, taking 11 points out of a possible 18. Preston have managed to find the back of the net in all bar one of their 13 league games at Deepdale this season, scoring in each of their last seven. However, Preston have struggled to keep clean sheets this season, managing just six in their 27 matches in the Championship, with their clean sheet in midweek being their first in 11 matches.

Bristol City failed to build on their 3-2 win at home to Cardiff City, as they lost 2-1 away to Luton in midweek. That defeat at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday evening means Nigel Pearson’s side have failed to win any of their last seven on the road, losing six. Conceding goals has been a real issue for Bristol City in the last few weeks, with the Robins conceding 19 goals in their last seven matches. In fact, Bristol City have managed just three clean sheets this season, will all three of those coming at Ashton Gate. Bristol City do go score goals though, finding the back of the net in 11 of their last 12 in the Championship, including in each of their last eight.

Bet of the Day

Goals have been a feature of Bristol City’s matches of late and there’s a good chance we’ll see a few more at Deepdale on Saturday afternoon. A remarkable 33 goals have been scored in the Robins last seven matches in the Championship, with all seven seeing both sides scoring, as well as going over 2.5 goals. Preston have found the net in 12/13 at home in the Championship and with Bristol City scoring in 11 of their last 12, both sides will be confident they’ll find the back of the net here. Given both of these sides have conceded in 46/55 of their combined matches in the Championship this season, as well as Nigel Pearson’s side having the third-leakiest defence, there’s a high chance both sides will score and that should lead us to over 2.5 match goals.
