Friday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into the Irish second-tier and there’s a side I like the look of to score at least twice away from home.
Wexford vs Galway United
🇮🇪 First Division
⏰ Friday 13th May, 19:45
Galway United will look to go level on points with league leaders Cork City, as they travel to sixth-placed Wexford. The visitors are currently three points behind Cork, whilst the hosts are sixth, just a point outside the promotion playoff places.
Wexford conceded in stoppage-time to lose 2-1 away to Longford Town last time out, meaning they come into this winning just one of their five in the league. lan Ryan’s side have won just four times in the league this season, with two of them coming against rock-bottom Athlone Town and the other two coming against second-bottom Cobh Ramblers. Wexford have registered just two clean sheets so far this season, with neither of them coming at home. Only the bottom two sides have conceded more goals than The Youths, with 15 of the 24 goals they’ve conceded so far this season coming at home.
Galway United recorded a comfortable 0-4 win away to Cobh Ramblers last time out to extend their good recent form. John Caulfield’s side come into this having won each of their last five in the league, scoring 12 goals in the process. Galway have won six of their seven matches on their travels this season, only dropping points against fourth-placed Longford Town. The Tribesmen have scored 25 goals so far this season and they’ve found the back of the net in all 14 of their league fixtures this season, scoring on multiple occasions in eight of them.
Bet of the Day
Galway United travel to Ferrycarrig Park knowing if they collect all three points this evening, they’ll go level on points with league leaders Cork City. John Caulfield’s visitors will come into this in confident mood, having won each of their last five matches and I reckon they’ll be too strong for a Wexford side who’s four wins this season have all came against the bottom two. Wexford are yet to keep a clean sheet at home and given only the bottom two have conceded more goals than lan Ryan’s hosts, I’m happy to back the visitors to strike at least twice. Galway have found the back of the net in all 14 of their league fixtures this season and come into this firing in 12 goals in their last five matches and given the visitors have won 6/7 on their travels this season, I’m more than happy to back The Tribesmen to score at least twice.
