Following last night’s winner at the Stadium of Light, Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the Europa League, and there is one fixture in particular that stands out to me for goals.

Brighton will look to collect their first points in Group B as they travel to the Stade Vélodrome to take on French giants Marseille in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Despite falling 2-0 and then 3-2 behind in their group opener away at Ajax, Marseille managed to leave Amsterdam with a point, as they drew 3-3. However, it’s been a pretty disastrous campaign domestically for OM so far this season, as they currently sit 12th after seven rounds of matches. Gennaro Gattuso’s men were unbeaten in each of their opening five Ligue 1 tussles (W2-D3-L0), however, they head into this contest off the back of 4-0 and 3-2 defeats away at both PSG and Monaco respectively – the latter being the Italian’s first match in charge of his new club.
Brighton hosted Greek champions AEK Athens in their first-ever European fixture and despite being short-priced favourites and levelling the game twice through the penalty spot, fluffed their lines and were beaten 2-3. Roberto De Zerbi’s visitors had started their Premier League campaign in far more impressive fashion, winning five of their opening six matches, before suffering a 6-1 thrashing away at Aston Villa at the weekend to fall down to 6th position, still only three points off league leaders and reigning champions Manchester City.

Brighton’s fixtures in the Premier League this season have been an absolute dream for goal-backers this season, with their matches averaging a whopping 4.71 goals per game. All seven have featured a minimum of four strikes, with both teams scoring in each, whilst their Europa League group opener also produced five strikes – and given Marseille’s previous three Ligue 1 and Europa League fixtures have seen 15 goals, with Over 3.5 Goals landing in each – I’m willing to take a chance on there to be four or more strikes in what promises to be a mouth-watering match.
