Football Bet of the Day: FH to Bag Another Brace at Home Against a Leaky Fylkir Defence

Monday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Icelandic top flight, and there is one team in particular that appeals to me for goals.

FH will look to further strengthen their position in the top six of the Besta deild karla as they welcome second-bottom Fylkir to the Kaplakriki, and I’m keen to get the hosts onside.

FH’s away troubles continued last time out, as they were beaten 1-0 away at KR. Whilst that was their fifth away defeat of the season (W1-D2-L5), Heimir Guðjónsson’s hosts are a different animal at home, winning five of their six Besta deild karla fixtures as hosts, only dropping points in a 2-2 draw with reigning champions Breiðablik.

Fylkir’s winless run was extended to seven matches on Tuesday night, as they played out a drab 0-0 draw at home to HK. Rúnar Páll Sigmundsson’s newly-promoted side have particularly struggled on their travels this term, collecting just two points from a possible 21 (W0-D2-L5), with both draws coming against Stjarnan (7th) and bottom side Keflavík.

FH are the joint fourth-highest scorers in the Icelandic top flight this term, scoring 26 goals across their opening 14 matches, with 16 (62%) of them coming in front of their supporters. The Hafnarfjörður-based club have made the net bulge in all six of their league contests on home soil- scoring two or more in each of their last five – and I’m backing them to bag another brace at home to a Fylkir defence that’s registered a solitary clean sheet in the league this season, shipping multiple goals in 11/16 (69%) of them.
