Football Bet of the Day: Bayern Face a Tough Test in the Black Forrest

After finishing February with eight winners from the previous 10, The opening Football Bet of the Day of March sees me focus on Bayern’s trip to Freiburg.

Bayern Munich will look to narrow the gap to leaders Bayer Leverkusen to five points on Friday night as they travel to the Europa-Park Stadion to take on European contenders Freiburg in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Freiburg have scored 30 goals across their opening 23 Bundesliga fixtures this term, with 20 (67%) of them coming in front of their supporters. Christian Streich’s hosts have found the back of the net in 10/11 (91%) of their Bundesliga contests on home soil – scoring on multiple occasions in seven of their last 10 – and will look to trouble a Bayern backline that’s registered just two clean sheets across their 10 Bundesliga tussles on the road, shipping multiple goals in four of their last five.

Thomas Tuchel’s visitors are the leading scorers in the Bundesliga, slamming in 63 goals across their opening 23 matches, with 24 (38%) of them coming on their travels. The Bavarians have failed to score in just two of their Bundesliga outings – scoring on multiple occasions in 18 (78%) of them – and will be confident of getting on the scoresheet against a Freiburg defence that’s registered just two clean sheets across their last eight Bundesliga in front of their supporters, as well as shipping multiple strikes in each of their previous six at all venues.

Bayern’s opening 11 Bundesliga fixtures on their travels this campaign are averaging 3.82 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score banking in seven of their previous 10 – and given the same has landed in six of Freiburg’s last eight Bundesliga contests on home soil – I’m happy to have a punt on both of these sides finding the target in the Black Forest.
