Monday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into the Portuguese top-tier and there’s a match that I like the look of for goals at both ends.

Braga vs Santa Clara

 ?? Primeira Liga

⏰ Monday 28th February, 20:15

Braga will look to consolidate their place in 4th, as they host mid-table Santa Clara at the Estádio Municipal de Braga. The hosts are currently three points clear of 5th placed Gil Vicente, whilst the visitors are 13th, five points clear of the relegation zone.

Despite losing the first-leg 2-0 in Moldova, Braga made it to the last-16 of the Europa League, by overcoming Sheriff Tiraspol on penalties. In the league, Carlos Carvalhal’s side won 0-1 away to second-from bottom Tondela last time out to make it four wins from their last five in the Primeira Liga. Braga have managed to find the back of the net in 19/23 league matches this season, scoring 40 goals. Os Arcebispos have conceded in 7/12 of their home matches this season, including in three of their last four.

Santa Clara bounced back from their 2-1 defeat against Benfica, by securing a point against Portimonense. That narrow-loss in Lisbon is Os Açoreanos’s only defeat in their last seven in the league, winning three and drawing three of the other six. Santa Clara have found the back of the net in 18/23 of their Primeira Liga matches so far this season, including in each of their last 12. Mário Silva’s side do struggle defensively though, possessing the third-worst defensive record in the league and registering just three clean sheets from their opening 23 matches.

Bet of the Day

Braga will be buzzing after their comeback win over Sheriff Tiraspol to reach the last-16 of the Europa League, but face a potential tricky-test against Santa Clara. The club from the Azores will come into this fairly confident themselves, having lost just one of their last seven in the league. Mário Silva’s visitors have found the back of the net in each of their last 12 in the league, as well as in each of their last nine away and I fancy them to get on the scoresheet against a Braga side that’s conceded in three of their last four at home. Santa Clara have only kept three clean sheets in the league though and I can’t see them keeping out a Braga side that’s only failed to score in four of their 23 matches in the Primeira Liga. Therefore, I’m backing both sides to get on the scoresheet at an attractive price, a selection that also landed in the the reverse fixture.
