Football Bet of the Day: Back Both to Score at Bramall Lane

Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the English Championship, and there’s one fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Two of the form teams in the English Championship do battle at Bramall Lane tomorrow evening as second-placed Sheffield United hosts third-placed Middlesbrough in what should be a highly competitive clash.

Sheffield United claimed their 11th Championship victory from their last 14 matches, as they comfortably dispatched mid-table Swansea 3-0 at the weekend. After winning half of their opening 10 Championship fixtures as hosts (W5-D3-L2), Paul Heckingbottom’s side has won each of their next five in front of their supporters, including that victory over Swansea on Saturday afternoon. The Blades have found the back of the net in 13/15 of their Championship fixtures at home this season, scoring on 33 occasions.

Middlesbrough claimed their 10th Championship victory from their last 12 matches, as they won 1-3 away at relegation-threatened Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon. That result maintained Boro’s improvement on their travels, as after winning just one of their opening eight away Championship matches, they have gone on to win six of their next eight. Michael Carrick’s visitors have found the back of the net in nine of their previous 10 Championship fixtures on the road, scoring on multiple occasions in seven of them.

Both Teams to Score has banked in 11/16 (69%) of Middlesbrough’s Championship fixtures away from home this season – and given the same has landed in six of Sheffield United's previous 11 as hosts – I reckon there’s a good chance these two in-form sides will get on the scoresheet here.
