Football Bet of the Day: Back Both Strike in Vallecas on Sunday

Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Spanish La Liga, and one of the fixtures appeals to me strongly for goals at both ends.

Espanyol will look to keep their survival hopes alive as they travel to Vallecas to take on European hopefuls Rayo Vallecano in a fixture that strongly appeals to me for goals at both ends.

Andoni Iraola’s hosts have scored 41 goals in La Liga this term, with 25 of those coming in front of their supporters. Los Franjirrojos have made the net bulge in 12 of their previous 16 league contests on home soil – striking on multiple occasions in four of their last five – and should be more than capable of breaching an Espanyol defence that has registered just two clean sheets across their 17 La Liga matches on their travels this campaign, conceding 31 goals.

Luis García’s visitors have scored 42 goals in the Spanish top flight this term, with exactly half of those coming on their travels. The Periquitos have made the net bulge in 30/34 of their La Liga assignments – including in all bar one of their 17 road trips – and will be confident of troubling a Rayo defence that has recorded just four shutouts at home this season, and none in each of their last five.

Espanyol have been the Both Teams to Score kings in La Liga this term, with 25/34 (74%) of their fixtures seeing both sides get on the scoresheet – including 14/17 (82%) when on their travels. Given both clubs have obliged in 11/17 (65%) of Rayo’s home fixtures in the Spanish top flight this season – including each of their last five – I feel as if there’s a strong chance we’ll see both of these sides will get on the scoresheet in Vallecas tomorrow afternoon.
