After making it three winners from three at the weekend, Wednesdays Football Bet of the Day sees me once more focus on the South American World Cup qualifiers, and there is one side I’m keen to get on side once again.

⚽️ Peru 🇵🇪 vs Argentina 🇦🇷

🌎 CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers

⏰ Wednesday 18th October, 03:00

Argentina will look to maintain their 100% start to World Cup qualification as they travel to Lima to take on goal-shy Peru at the Estadio Nacional in the early hours of Wednesday morning – and I’ve come up with a way to get the visitors on side once again.

Lionel Scaloni’s men have made the perfect start to their World Cup qualifying campaign, as they sit top of the CONMEBOL table after winning each of their opening three qualifiers. Following a 1-0 victory at home to Ecuador and a 0-3 success in La Paz against Bolivia, La Albiceleste defeated Paraguay at home also by a 1-0 scoreline thanks to an early strike by Nicolas Otamendi to land last Friday’s Football Bet of the Day.

Only Bolivia sit below Peru in the CONMEBOL table at this early stage, as Juan Reynoso’s side have picked up a solitary point from their opening three qualifiers. La Blanquirroja began their qualifying campaign with a goalless draw away at fellow slow starters Paraguay – in a match they placed the entire second half a man-light – and then went on to concede in the 90th-minute to lose 0-1 at home to Brazil before suffering a 2-0 defeat in Santiago against Chile last time out.

Bet of the Day

Since the beginning of the previous World Cup qualifying campaign, Argentina are unbeaten in each of their last 20 qualifiers (W14-D6-L0). In fact, La Albiceleste have won four of their previous five World Cup qualifiers on their travels – drawing 1-1 in the high altitude of Quito with Ecuador virtue of a 90th-minute Enner Valencia equaliser in the other – and I’m backing them to secure another victory against a Peru side that they defeated 1-0 at home and 0-2 away in the previous World Cup qualifying campaign.

Once again, to go alongside an Argentinian victory, I’m willing to add in a market that I’m generally not keen on, and that is the Win to Nil. However, the world champions have conceded just twice across their previous 13 World Cup qualifiers – keeping clean sheets both home and away against Peru in the last World Cup qualifying campaign – and I’m backing them to record another clean sheet against a Peru side that has failed to score in each of their opening three World Cup qualifiers.
