After making it back-to-back winners in Amsterdam on Tuesday, Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the opening match of matchday 4 in the French top flight.

Two clubs who have made contrasting starts to the Ligue 1 season meet at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard tomorrow evening as bottom-side Saint-Etienne plays host to Lille in a fixture that I’m backing the visitors to heap more misery on the hosts.
After a two-year absence in Ligue 2, Saint-Etienne returned to the French top flight following a dramatic victory over yo-yo side Metz in the relegation/promotion playoff.
However, it’s been a nightmare start to the campaign since promotion for Olivier Dall'Oglio’s men, with Les Verts losing each of their opening three Ligue 1 outings, conceding seven goals and scoring zero.
It’s been a busier start to the campaign for Lille, with Bruno Genesio’s new side knocking out Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce and Slavia Prague to qualify for the Champions League.
Domestically, Les Dogues won their opening two Ligue 1 contests away at Reims and at home to newly-promoted Angers – both without conceding – but fell to defeat last time out, as they were beaten by champions PSG 1-3 at home.

As alluded to, prior to their 1-3 defeat at home to perennial champions PSG, Lille had won each of their opening two Ligue 1 contests without conceding and will look to return to winning ways at their struggling hosts.
Since promotion, Saint-Etienne have lost all three of their Ligue 1 contests – conceding seven times and scoring none – and I’m backing the 10-time champions of France to suffer another tough evening on Friday.
