THE milder weather should ensure a full fixture card in the Irn-Bru Scottish Football Leagues – so let’s hope we can give the bookies a bashing and have punters laughing all the way to the bank.
As always we have been on the case in the hunt for a winning treble and our job has become slightly more difficult in recent weeks with some freak results spoiling coupons.
But let’s hope we have got it right this weekend and start in the Irn-Bru First Division and focus on Livingston’s away trip to face bottom dogs Ayr.
After John Hughes took over from Gary Bollan, Livi notched up a thumping 4-0 win over Raith at home last weekend.
That result came on the back of a 3-1 victory over Partick Thistle and they now seem to be heading back in the right direction and have climbed up to fourth place, 11 points head of the Honest Men.
Livi are unbeaten in their last two meetings with Ayr with one of those games finishing up in a 3-0 triumph.
I reckon they can win again and am taking them at a tempting 13-10 with companies such as boylesports, Blue Square, 888sport, Coral and William Hill as the first team in my SFL treble.
Next up we look in on Falkirk’s home clash with Queen of the South.
The Bairns are gunning for promotion while Gus MacPherson’s stuffy Queens side have improved in recent weeks as they have climbed up to eighth place in the league.
Falkirk go into this one as favourites and would no doubt be content with a repeat of the 1-0 triumph they earned the last time the sides met.
Queens have failed to win in their last four matches and I am tipping another Falkirk victory at 3-4 with William Hill.
We finish up in the Irn-Bru Third Division and improving Elgin’s trip to face second-bottom Montrose.
Elgin have been in fine form recently, winning their last three games and knocking in 11 goals in the process.
With stats like that who are we to disagree and back a Montrose side without a win in their last five games.
Take Elgin as the final team in this week’s SFL treble at 5-4 with Betfred, Stan James and Coral.
