THERE'S been another debate about the merits of lifting the alcohol at football grounds in Scotland ban since minor trouble at the Old Firm League Cup semi-final.
I can see the pros and cons but feel most clubs should be allowed to serve drink to supporters – but not at high-profile or games regarded as a security risk.
McBookie go 6-4 the ban will be lifted before the end of the 2016-17 season and there's definitely a chance of it happening. However, that means it is odds on at 1-2 it will remain in place
Paul Petrie, McBookie.com spokesman, said: “It does seem unfair rugby fans can enjoy a pint at the game but football fans cannot. However, we suspect it will be a few years yet before drink is allowed in Scottish football grounds.”
Meanwhile, the race for League One hots up on Saturday when the top four in the division all play each other. Stranraer are the current favourites at 7-4 ahead of their trip to second-placed Morton.
Petrie added: “League One is the most competitive league in Scotland but Saturday could go a long way to deciding the destination of the title. Interestingly, it is two full-time clubs and two part time clubs challenging at the top. Could that have a bearing on the outcome?”
