THEY make odd bedfellows but tonight they could provide you with a nice double act.

I'm talking about Brentford and Nantes who look decent-priced homes against Carlisle and Metz respectively.

So let's start with the buzzing Bees. They were well tipped for promotion at the start of the season and can still make it to the play-offs despite a run of one win in nine.

They beat Wycombe 5-2 in their last home outing and before that went down 3-2 Huddersfield after leading 2-0. Carlisle were thumped 4-0 at Hartlepool on their last trip and held 0-0 by Tranmere last time out.

In fact Carlisle's last four defeats have been away from home and tonight they'll be without banned top scorer Lee Miller.

Brentford have netted eight in their last three games and if they can make chances they should outscore Carlisle. Back the Bees at 6-5 with Coral.

Nantes have won seven out of eight at home, with five clean sheets, as they bid to win promotion back to the French top flight.

They are 1-1 with Paddy Power and bet365 as they chase victory against a lowly Metz outfit who have taken just one point in their last 12.

Best bets of the night could be Benfica at Guimaraes. Benfica are bidding for nine league wins in a row and interestingly have scored in every game they've played this season.

I was thinking about them -1 but Guimaraes are unbeaten in five at home and Benfica have won three of their last four away by a goal. So simply back Benfica at 3-5 with BetVictor.

If they win by one the man to get the goal could be Oscar Cardozo who has netted 12 in 11 games. He is 4-1 at bet365 and BetVictor to break the deadlock.

There is one game in La Liga between two strugglers, Real Zaragoza v Real Betis. It's a tough one to call and draw at 23-10 at BetVictor could be the way to go. Zaragoza are 13-8 at BetVictor with Betis 9-5 at Stan James and Ladbrokes.

Zaragoza are unlikely to escape the drop zone but won last time out at Espanyol after improved performances against Vallecano and Real Madrid. Betis also won last time out against Athletic Bilbao but it was their first in five and consistency had been their problem.

hi paul just a question about perms. if i put say a six fold on do i tick the 5 fold box then accumulator box or tick the six fold box and accumulator. dose that mean if one lets me down and the others win i win a bit of profit back?

    • Mr Fixit 13 years ago

George, you will tick the fivefold box plus accumulator if you want to perm five from six and all six. If you have six selections the sixfold is your accumulator. You should get a profit for one wrong but not if the odds are very short. A quick example. If you bet six at evens one wrong pays one 31-1 fivefold. Perming five from six costs you seven bets so at a £1 unit stake you make a £25 profit. If all were correct you would win six 31-1 fivefolds and one 63-1 sixfold. This payout is less than you’d get on a £7 sixfold at 63-1.

Paul, what do you think about zaragoza v betis btts?

    • Mr Fixit 13 years ago

Matthew, it crossed my mind so I wouldn’t put you off. Zaragoza look slightly more likely to win the game and btts has come up in three of their last five. Betis netted two at Barcelona in a 4-2 defeat a few weeks ago and we know they can be dangerous on the counter.

both teams to score tuesday yet paul.

    • Mr Fixit 13 years ago

George, I’m not putting them up until tomorrow morning. Got a bit of stick for Sunday’s selections so I’m giving myself some extra time to consider them and also have a look at the team news that comes out in the morning.

A bit off topic paul but i’m not too impressed with your new sponsors Unibet. I opened an account for a flutter with their risk free bet. It lost on Friday and 2 emails and a phonecall later i’m still waiting on my stake to be returned.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers

    • Mr Fixit 13 years ago

Kevin, I know the promotion you are talking about. I don’t know how long it takes for the stake to be returned. Have they responded to your calls?

took the 2 teams above and added in Den Bosch, Panthrakikos, Glentoran and Benfica in my monday accer.

Things can only go up after the last weekends donations to Paddy Power and Willie Hill.

Good luck with this weeks games.

    • Mr Fixit 13 years ago

Willie, looks a decent line so good luck with that. I tipped Brentford, Nantes and Benfica and of the three Nantes looked the tightest although Benfica haven’t been battering teams away from home. What’s happened to your sausage men by the way?

    • Willie McGuire 13 years ago

      Alrite paul
The sausage men – Sassuolo are still unbeaten in 10, although 4 of those have been low scoring or no scoring draws!
Stick with them tho! And they might win you a Lb or two haha

    • Mr Fixit 13 years ago

Willie, I noticed it was 0-0 at the weekend. Glad to hear they’re not getting stuffed.

Needing Benfica goals. Come on Cardozo, Gaitan, Aimar et al, get the finger out! Backed Brentford, Betis and Benfica -1. Alliteration anyone…

May live to regret Benfica on the handicap, however I backed Celtic, Liverpool and Barca all -1 yesterday so hopefully my luck hasnt run out. Talking of luck, the only reason I didn’t add Spurs -1 to the line was the overlap with Stoke game ending. Basically I wanted to use the Stoke cash for my line without depositing more cash!

    • Mr Fixit 13 years ago

Marc, I did note Guimaraes’ recent home record was decent but you still expect Benfica to edge them out. Running out of time though.

  11. Kevin 13 years ago

I phoned them and they told me to email them. So i did – twice, but not even the courtesy of a reply let alone my refund. I’ll keep trying but certainly won’t be using them again. And i hope they read these comments.

    • Mr Fixit 13 years ago

Kevin, I’ll find out how long it takes for them to return the stake and get back to you. Let me know if it drops into your account though because sometimes can’t take a few days. We are of course new to dealing with unibet and will look into any complaints.

Brentford was a great tip today Mr Fixit.

I wasn’t planning a bet tonight but decided to take a chance on that one @ 11/10.

    Thanks again.

    • Mr Fixit 13 years ago

Eric, keep the faith. Easy money.

  13. Badham 13 years ago

Based of your analysis on Brentford I went for Brentford Ht/Ft at 2/1 and it came in… Thanks dude really enjoying your tips.

    Badham

    • Mr Fixit 13 years ago

Thanks for that. Brentford look as if they’ve got it together now, especially at home, so ones to watch.

  14. Marc Currie 13 years ago

Yes I thought so too Paul. I know taking them -1 was risky due to the fact their recent away victories have been by single goal margins but my reasoning was they would be looking to widen the gap between themselves and their nearest challengers, Porto. Throw down the gauntlet if you will. Not to worry. Very profitable weekend. Terrific shout on Brentford by the way!

  15. steven 13 years ago

elgin 6/4, on a decent run, should see off hapless clyde.
