FEB 20: RAITH v RANGERS BETTING PREVIEW

WE'VE all made packets backing against Rangers this season and opposing them at 9-2 will tempt many.

There's no doubt the price – from bet365 – is too big but bookies will always be reluctant to offer value on sides such as Rangers who will be backed blindly by many people outside of Scotland.

I confidently backed the Ibrox men to crash to Hibs last week and in the League Cup semi-final with Celtic – and now they're trying to avoid four defeats in a row at a side who knocked them out of the Scottish Cup less than two weeks ago.

In a logical world Raith would be favourites but football betting isn't logical and neither is anything related to Rangers at the moment.

Rangers went down 2-0 to Hibs last time out but can at least avoid defeat in Kirkcaldy if they show the same spirit on display in that outing.

Kenny McDowall's outfit benefited from the dropping of under-performing midfielder Ian Black and played at a better pace and with some luck would have picked up at least a point.

Raith won't be scared after their cup success but did lose 4-0 at home earlier in the season – and 6-1 at Ibrox.

With the home side being so big though I can't be tempted by Rangers at a best 8-11 at Coral while the draw pays 14-5 at bet365 and William Hill.

Raith have been a bit hit and miss this season and at the weekend were second-best at home to Falkirk but kept battling to the end and bagged a point 15 seconds from time.

Three meetings between the sides this season have produced 14 goals so could this be a Friday night thriller just as Celtic-Inter was in Glasgow 24 hours earlier?

Over 2.5 goals pays 4-5 at McBookie and both to score is 5-6 at Ladbrokes and should come up.

Rangers will be without four of their Newcastle contingent but the other one, Haris Vuckic, has looked decent and netted in the 2-1 Raith defeat. He is 12-5 at boylesports to net tonight.

Raith's big striker Christian Nade, who scrambled the winner at Ibrox, is 3-1 at bet365 to score at any time.
