Expert football pools betting tips

After a successful week on our football pools betting tips last week, where we called three out of five matches correctly (and were seconds away from a fourth), we've picked out five more pools tips this week that are well worth considering.

As ever, we're focusing on matches that are most likely to finish in draws as they are worth the most points in the standard pools scoring system, as detailed below:

  • Score draw: 3 points
  • No-score draw (0-0): 2 points
  • Home or away win: 1 point

Ahead of this week's action, check out our football pools betting tips below.

Our expert football pools betting tips

Aston Villa vs Chelsea (Premier League)

The Saturday evening kick-off this weekend is Aston Villa vs Chelsea in a match between two clubs chasing a place in the Premier League's top four. Neither of the two sides come into the match in great form with Villa winless in their last five league matches and Chelsea losing two of their last three.

If you want to back a team in the Premier League to draw a match at this moment in time then it is Aston Villa. They have drawn four of their last five matches and considering they are playing a team that is finding wins on the road hard to come by, another drawn match is on the cards on Saturday.

Man City vs Liverpool (Premier League)

On Sunday afternoon, it's the champions against the league leaders as Man City face Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium. In recent years, this has been the Clash of the Titans in the Premier League but City's poor form this season means that it is only Liverpool who are chasing the title this time around.

That doesn't mean to say that the Blues won't give a good account of themselves on Sunday but all signs point towards a draw. Liverpool have drawn their two most recent away matches in the Premier League and the nerves are clearly kicking in. What's more, two of the last three matches between these teams have finished in 1-1 draws.

Burnley vs Sheffield Wednesday (Championship)

By now, I think everyone in the country knows what to expect whenever Scott Parker's Burnley take to the field and it was more of the same last week as they played out yet another 0-0 draw, this time against local rivals, Preston.

That result means that the Clarets have now drawn three of their last five Championship matches and this weekend they take on a Sheffield Wednesday side that have drawn three of their last eight.

Derby County vs Millwall (Championship)

Our banker football pools betting tip this week comes from Pride Park where Derby County will take on Millwall. The match puts together two teams that have combined for a total of 20 draws so far this season and both of them have been trending in this area recently.

Derby County, who are seemingly stuck in the bottom three, have drawn two of their last three Championship matches while Millwall have drawn each of their last two. No side in the division has drawn more away matches than the Lions this season and they are good bet to add to their tally this weekend.

Blackpool vs Crawley Town (League One)

Our final pools betting tip of the week comes from League One. On Saturday afternoon, Blackpool will welcome Crawley Town to Bloomfield Road in a match between two teams who have been drawing matches for fun in recent weeks.

Blackpool's last four matches have all finished level while the same can be said for Crawley Town's last two. Interestingly, the last time these two teams met at Bloomfield Road, the match finished in a 0-0 draw.
