Europa League: Stick with the big guns

Maps and a book of  flags at the ready, yip, that's right, its that time of the year again, Europa League 1st round qualifiers.

I like to think I have a fairly good level of knowledge of being able to confirm where a team comes from but this year there are quite a few I had to check.

Its a competition I have experienced first hand having followed St Johnstone to Turkey, Norway , Switzerland, Armenia, and Switzerland over the last few years and there's definitely money top be made, especially where we have 5th and 6th placed teams from Europe's worst leagues traveling on their first foray into Europe  against seasoned pro's in this completion (Molde, Brondby,  Malmo, Aberdeen etc)

I'm down south this week so struggling a bit for time today but have picked out a  couple of bets – I was spot on last night tipping Rosenborg to take a two goal league back to Norway and that's exactly what they did, hoping for more of the same tonight.

Malmo FF vs Ballymena United (KO 6pm)

Zero value in the home win but you have to fancy the swedes to cruise to victory here give they are top of the Swedish league and midway through their season. They had some terrific performances against the likes of Chelsea and Besiktas last season and are head and shoulders above their opponents today

Ballymena play in the Northern Irish Premiership which is a poor league and its really a case of how many goals Malmo score – Damage limitation for the visitors.

Brondby vs Inter Turku (KO 6pm)

Another side who shouldn't have any problems progressing are Brondby –  they are strong at home and are seasoned regulars in this competition.

Inter sit 5th in the Finnish league but and shouldn't pose Brondby too many problems in there first euro adventure in 6 years.

• Brondby and over 2.5 match goals
