Watford v Tottenham (Saturday 12:30)

Not so long ago relegation from the Premier League seemed like a certainty for Watford, however, Nigel Pearson's arrival and influence has transformed the Hornets into one of the most in-form outfits in the division.

The Vicarage Road sides speed and physicality saw them brilliantly dismantle relegation rivals Bournemouth last Sunday to make it four top-flight wins form five and Watford will be looking to take another huge step towards survival on Saturday lunchtime against out-of-sorts Tottenham.

Indeed, Spurs showed some mettle when losing 1-0 at home to Liverpool last weekend, but the Lilywhites were given a late scare in the FA Cup in midweek when limping to a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough of the league below.

The north Londoners lack of killer instinct has been evident in talisman Harry Kane's absence and at the other end of the park Spurs have only managed to register two clean sheets in 22 Premier League outings so far.

What's more, Tottenham have triumphed in only two of their last 17 top-flight road trips and such vulnerability does not bode well ahead of a trip to what will be a vibrant Vicarage Road.

Given the inconsistencies that have plagued Spurs season, coupled with the hosts recent resurgence, I like the look of backing Watford with + 0.50 start which pays 1.719 with Pinnacle via VOdds – a betting angle that would bank profit in the event of a home win or a share of the spoils

RB Leipzig v Union Berlin (Saturday 17:30)

RB Leipzig have lit up the Bundesliga this season and after entering the winter break occupying top-spot the Red Bulls will be looking to maintain their title charge against Union Berlin on Saturday evening.

What's more, under the stewardship of the young and innovative Julan Naglesmann, Leipzig were the leading goalscorers in the German top-tier at the halfway stage of the season.

The Red Bull Arena side are unbeaten in their last 12 matches across all competitions and that sequence should be extended against a Union Berlin side who failed to win any of their final three league games of 2019.

Indeed, the capital club have adapted admirably to life in the Bundesliga – Urs Fischer's side currently sit 11th in the table and look well equipped to beat the drop in their maiden season in the German top-flight – however, RB Leipzig did romp to a 4-0 success in the reverse fixture back in August.

Given that Bayern Munich appear to be motoring again, Leipzig can ill-afford a slip up on Saturday evening and I fully expect Naglesmann's men to see off a Union team who have lost five of their eight away games to date.

The league leaders have scored two or more goals in their last 12 matches and with that in mind, I'm going to back Leipzig to overcome a -1.25 handicap at odds of 1.610 with Crown via VOdds – taking this approach would only see you completely out of pocket should the hosts fail to collect all three points.

Atalanta v SPAL (Monday 19:45)

Atalanta have quickly become one of Europe's most lauded teams and the attack-minded La Dea should be too strong for a SPAL side who are stranded at the bottom of Serie A.

Following a fairy tale 2018/19 campaign that culminated in a third-place finish for Atalanta, Gian Piero Gasperini's slick side have since sensationally secured a place last-16 of the Champions League.

Domestically, the Nerazzurri lie fourth in the table having scored 49 goals in 19 outings to date – an eye-catching average of just over 2.5 goals per game.

Both AC Milan and Parma have been thumped 5-0 at this venue in recent weeks and bottom of the table SPAL will do well to avoid a similar mauling on Monday night.

SPAL have lost 13 of their 19 leagues matches thus far and another defeat could be in store when coming up against the deadliest attack in the division.

Given the wealth of attacking talent that Gasperini has at his disposal, as well as the fluency that the hosts play with, I fancy Atalanta to overcome a -1.50 handicap at 1.600 with Crown via VOdds – a bet that would generate a return so long as Atalanta win the match by two or more goals.

Recommended Bets

  • Watford + 0.50 (1.719 at Pinnacle via VOdds)
  • RB Leipzig -1.25  (1.610 at Crown via VOdds)
  • Atalanta -1.50 (1.600 at Crown via VOdds)
