ATP Geneva Open prediction and betting tips

The Geneva Open is nearing its final stages, with the semi-finals just ahead. The ATP 250 tournament has seen a series of intense and fiercely competitive matches. Who has a better chance of reaching the finals? Read on for our Djokovic vs Machac prediction and betting tips.

Friday’s semi-final will feature an intriguing matchup between the top seed Novak Djokovic and 23-year-old Tomas Machac.

Djokovic’s wild card entry in the Geneva Open raised a few eyebrows, but he brushed the shock aside with his two consecutive straight-set wins. His first victory came against Yannick Hanfmann in the second round, followed by a defeat of Tallon Griekspoor in the quarter-finals.

Surprisingly, if Djokovic goes all the way in Geneva, it will be his first title of the season.

Meanwhile, Tomas Machac began his Geneva Open with a straight-set victory over Jack Draper. He struggled in his second encounter against Nicholas Moreno de Alboran, dropping the first set but regained composure and won the final set without losing a game.

He also defeated Alex Michelsen in the quarter-finals without dropping a set, securing his spot in the semi-finals.

How the Bookies View it: Djokovic the Heavy Favourite

Bookmaker bet365 is heavily in favour of Djokovic, making him the favourite with at 1/9 to win. Machac sits as a huge underdog, paying 11/2 to win against the tennis titan. Set betting suggests a 2-0 win for Djokovic with this result paying 11/20.

Recent Head-to-Head: Advantage Djokovic

Djokovic and Machac have faced each other once at the 2023 Dubai Championships, where Djokovic bested the young Czech 2-1.

Anything Else Catch the Eye?

After a bizarre head injury at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, Djokovic was thrown off his game, but his Geneva Open run says otherwise. Djokovic is yet to drop a set in the ATP 250 tournament and is already in the semi-finals.

Djokovic marked his 1100th victory in his first match of the Geneva Open against Yannick Hanfmann on May 22, which also happened to be his 37th birthday. Djokovic’s surprising entry in the Geneva Open seems to be paying off, as he’s now gained some extra match time before defending his title in the Roland-Garros.

Meanwhile, Tomas Machac has performed admirably this season. The youngster holds a 12-7 win-loss record year-to-date with his incredibly consistent all-round game.

Machac missed the recent Italian Open due to an injury but is back on the court as well as back in form. He has had an impressive Geneva Open run and will step into Roland-Garros unseeded. The Geneva Open is his first ATP tour semi-final of the year.

Djokovic vs Machac Betting Tips and Predictions

Djokovic has entered his zone after a series of underperformances and isn’t going to look back. Machac has performed exceptionally until now, overthrowing three top-notch players to secure his spot in the semi-finals against Djokovic. But, we say this is the end of the road for the Czech.

  •     Djokovic to win @ 1/9
  •     Djokovic to win 2-0 @ 11/20

Djokovic and Machac will play second on the Centre Court of the Geneva Open, not before 2:30pm local time.
