I DID this for the first time last week and while it was interesting reading the comments I picked the wrong Saturday Super Single.
Brighton let me down by drawing at Bournemouth and since then I've two winners and two losers.
As usual I had my first look at the weekend football when the coupons hit the shops and here are the teams on my original shortlist of 10.
My Super Single may or may not be among them but I'd welcome opinions, especially from fans of clubs featured who may be aware of some vital team news. I've also listed 12 homes and six aways that I like at first glance.
Super Single shortlist
LIVERPOOL -1 v West Ham
DERBY v Blackpool
LEEDS v Watford
NOTTS COUNTY* v Gillingham
BRENTFORD at Carlisle
COVENTRY* at Hartlepool
BURTON at Fleetwood
DUNDEE UTD -1 v Hearts
HIBS v Partick Thistle
LIVINGSTON at Cowdenbeath
Homes shortlist
Liverpool
West Brom v Norwich
Derby
Leeds
QPR v Blackburn
Reading v Bournemouth
Notts County
Oldham v Mansfield
Peterborough v Tranmere
Rotherham v Rochdale
Dundee Utd
Hibs
Aways shortlist
Brentford
Coventry*
Preston at Wycombe
Livingston
Dundee at Morton
Montrose at Queen's Park
* Teams I've already ruled out thanks to comments on the site including a Coventry fan pointing out that loan stars Chris Maguire and Chris Dagnall are ineligible for the FA Cup tie.
You go against Bournemouth again Mr F and we’re going to have a serious falling out :P
Definitely don’t touch us Mr F.
We are without Clarke(injured) and Wilson(upfront) both our main strikers. Plus the 2 loan players Dagnall and Maguire are not eligible to play. Both scored on their debuts at the weekend to win at MK Dons 3-1, 2 superb free-kicks by Maguire.
I wouldn’t say we wont win but our chances without these 4 players, espcially missing our 2 main strikers and the 2 we have brought in on loan (Maguire more attacking midfield) it will be a hell of a lot more difficult for us.
I remember beating Hartlepool 5-0 last year I believe and 1-0 but not so confident about Saturday
Just a heads up
Stormin, that’s one reason why I put up the shortlist. Good point about Maguire and Dagnall – I reckon you’ve just put most people off Coventry. What about a draw?
Hey Mr F. I would hate a draw personally as we would have less fans at Northampton than at Hartlepool. Having said that with the aforementioned players not playing, life is slightly more difficult for us. Therefore a draw is probably the better option to go for if betting on the game. I’m staying clear of it myself!
Wilson(suspended)*
Once I see the line-up I’ll let you know how I feel. Looks like Baker and Moussa will have to grab us a goal. Can’t think who Pressley could play up front. I mean maybe push Daniels up as we have done once this season but not sure if he is fit either!!
I see Coventry on your short list against my team Hartlepool and can only see this as a Coventry win, just looked and thought 11/10 for Coventry win is a great price. Pools had a bad start to season and picked up after a while but recently we’ve dropped a bit again, the problem is scoring goals. We have Luke James who’s scoring a lot for him but if he doesn’t score we struggle. We only have 1 win in 5 and that was against Northampton bottom of the table and no offence to them but one of the worst sides I’ve seen come to Victoria park in a while. Although Coventry had a few hefty losses, the last game saw them take 7000 fans to mk dons and get an impressive 3-1 win. I went in to get my ticket yesterday and the lady told me the away end was sold out so they’re bringing 2000+ Fans with them and I’d think they want to put on a good show for them. For me Coventry have to much quality for us and 11/10 is a great price
Dma, Coventry had been missing players and team news is the key so thanks Stormin. Fans are watching them away while most boycott “home games” at Northampton.
When was the last time notts county won mr f?
I was thinking double chance gill or draw?
phil72, I think Notts County last won in 19canteen. Remember these are not my tips, they are initial thoughts from a first look at the coupon. County have won one in eight but performances are improving (apparently).
Burton vs fleetwood looks a good btts
Mr. F can we go for leeds -1 they are now banging
How about yeovil to win 3 on the trot ? 11/8
Forest need to win a game soon as well though s wed doing better now

Got to be a -1 treble for me
Liverpool 10/11@skybet
Brentford 11/4@skybet
Dundee utd 5/4@skybet
Hibs – 6/5 @ BetVictor
Leyton Orient – 21/20 – Skybet
Yeovil – 15/8 @ BetVictor
Really don’t like betting on cup games Tomom but the odds look good
Yeovil great odds only 11/8 on will hill
Dont rule out morton corner needs to turn soon
Mr F. Thanks for the early tips, lets us get the early higher odds! Can see why punters like the both to score and outcome bets…excellent odds for a double or treble!Keep up the excellent tips!Cheers.
Stormin:thanks for pointing out missing Coventry players!
Derby looks a great shout.won 4 games on the spin and high in confidence against a Blackpool side that have a few injuries and 3 players out suspended.they are currently a best price 5/6 but that price won’t last long
Dundee Utd to score 3 or more @ 13/8…4 or more is 4/1 if you feel braver!
A very worthwhile exercise Mr F, I’ll probably not get a chance to have a proper look until Friday night but will doing what I’ve done for the last few weekends and posting 8-10 teams who should win! If only I did this sort of preparation and studying when it was at school, haha!
Greg, you went to school?
I know, it’s hard to believe, haha! :)
David Hopkins in charge at Morton now. Played ok v a good Inverness side 2 late goals may have made it look more one sided than it was
Dundee travel to cappielow on sat in what looks an away win all day long but players may respond to Hopkins so could be closer than expected
Derby Derby Derby, lucky escape last night as middlesboroughs new manager came for a point, derby were poor and couldn’t break them down. aparently the ref had a bad game double yellowing one of borough’s players and even though they equalized against the run of play, derby never capitalised and never played with the movement that they have done all season. That being said, we won ugly and in the 91st minute which means we are up for a scrap and in 4th position. Roll on saturday as I STILL believe we’ll beat Blackpool aswell.
Absolutely definately lump on liverpool -1. My Hammers havent win at Anfield since 1965 and at the mo we cant score away from Upton Park. Liverpool, as we know are red hot at home.
i agree on the liverpool -1. suarez ( as much as i hate him), his form is on fire, very much the luis suarez show. west ham surely can’t compete against an improving Liverpool side.
Ive not checked the price for PNE but if they are evens or above it should be the ss.
One of the best PNE matches I’ve been on in a couple of years is destroying Wycombe 5-3 was an excellent game the north end should win comfortably they are playing well but they do have q couole of absentee due to suspension.
Craig, it’s about evens, haven’t checked yet for best price.
As a saints fan I feel like a traitor but with no Boruc, Clyne and Wanyama we are going to let goals in! Get on MAN CITY -1. @. 13/8. :-(
Spdsaint, just writing my Record Saturday columns just now and Man City are in there.
HELLO. FROM YOUR SHORT/LONG LIST MR FIXIT I WILL BE HAVING A SMALL BET ON THE FOLLOWING GAMES. QPR VS BLACKBURN =QPR TO WIN LIVERPOOL VS WESTHAM = OVER2.5 WESTBROM VS NORWICH CITY = OVER2.5 MORTON FC VS FC DUNDEE = FC DUNDEE TO WIN CARLISE UTD VS BRENTFORD FC = BRENTFORD FC TO WIN WYCOMBE VS PRESTON NORTH END = OVER2.5 ROTHERHAM VS ROCHDALE = OVER2.5 LEEDS UTD VS WATFORD FC = BTTS ODDS 85/1 LOOKS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE…LOOKING FWD TO READ UR TIPS FROM YOUR SHORT/LONG LIST AND FROM ALL ASWELL…FINGERS CROSSED GOOD LUCK TO EVERY1 FOR THE COMEING WEEKEND.
MICHELLE, an 85-1 line is tough to get up – and the price tells you it isn’t too good to be true but good luck.
If the game has ‘cup’ in the title, dont bother.
Bookies love these, they know the gambling addicts out there
Cannot resist odds like sevilla later, cos they know that they will make changes,
be complacenet, dont really bother about the cup etc.
Livingston are a very good shout this weekend. The last time we played Cowdenbeath this season, we won 5-1 and despite some poor form away from home so far, our last away game in the league was a 5-1 win away to Morton.
In actual fact, we’ve only lost once to Cowdenbeath in 12 meetings.
I fancy us to do the business over a poor Cowden side tomorrow.
I can’t see anything in the local press that suggests anything other than a leeds win. Only slight concern would be if the wee man Ross had an off day, where would the goals come from. Watford got a draw at burnley , however, if ings had been playing probably would have been a loss. I never like betting on my team though!! Leeds have an impressive home record. My worry would be we have missed the boat on leeds at home as they are probably due a draw!! Interesting!
