ChelseavEverton

AFTER two profitable nights on the Champions League we move on to the Europa League where there is less chance of making money in my opinion.

Eighteen clubs will battle for the 10 remaining places in the knockout phase so like last night team news will be vital and I'll be wary of teams with nothing to play for.

Everton, Salzburg, Dynamo Moscow, Inter Milan and Fiorentina are all guaranteed to go through as group winners and will be seeded along with the four best-performing Champions League sides dropping into the tournament.

Spurs will join them and top Group C if they can secure a draw at second-placed Besiktas. Both teams have already qualified for the knockouts meaning Asteras, who will finish third, and Partizan Belgrade are left playing for pride.

White Hart Lane boss Mauricio Pochettino has named a strong squad and with the Turks missing strikers Demba Ba and Mustafa Pektemek I can see an away win at 13-5 with McBookie.

It is much tighter in Group G where three teams can still take top spot. Feyenoord have already qualified and will win the group if they beat Standard Liege while a draw will be enough for the Dutch outfit if Sevilla fail to beat Rijeka.

Rijeka will edge ahead of Sevilla if they seal victory against the Spanish side and could top the group if Feyenoord lose.

Borussia Monchengladbach are in charge of Group A but the Germans can still be eliminated if they lose at home to Zurich and Villarreal beat Apollon Limassol who are out. The Spanish outfit will qualify with a victory or if Zurich fail to win.

The top two places are all that need to be settled in Group L where Legia Warsaw can clinch top spot with a draw over Trabzonspor.

In Group B Bruges will qualify as group winners if they beat Helskinki while a draw will be enough to see the Belgians at least finish second. Torino will also qualify if they beat Copenhagen, who are out, or Helsinki fail to win.

Napoli are already through in Group I but will clinch top spot if they beat Slovan Bratislava while Sparta Prague will progress if they avoid defeat at Young Boys.

Inter Milan are confirmed as winners in Group F but second place is much up for grabs. St Etienne can still qualify but must collect more points against Dnipro than Qarabag do against Inter while Dnipro need to win and hope Qarabag lose.

Qarabag have a chance as the Italians are fielding just three first-teamers and they are my Super Single in tomorrow's Daily Record at 23-20 with Paddy Power.

In Group J, Dynamo Kiev will qualify top if they avoid defeat against Steaua Bucharest and Aalborg will join them if they beat Rio Ave or Bucharest fail to win.

Fiorentina host Dinamo Minsk, knowing they have already secured top spot in Group K but PAOK Salonika could snatch second place from Guingamp with a home victory.

Wolfsburg will join Everton in the last 32 if they can avoid defeat against Lille in Group H. Everton boss Roberto Martinez is fielding an experimental team at home to Krasnodar.

Joel Robles, Christian Atsu, Steven Pienaar, Arouna Kone, Bryan Oviedo, Conor McAleny, Antolin Alcaraz, Tyias Browning and Luke Garbutt will all start along with two unnamed youngsters.

England Under-18 captain Ryan Ledson and fellow 17-year-old Kieran Dowell could be the two players while midfielder Liam Walsh is also being considered. Despite the changes Everton are a best 19-20 at McBookie.

Dynamo Moscow and PSV Eindhoven, who have qualified first and second in Group E, face each other while Estoril and Panathinaikos are both out ahead of their meeting.

Celtic boss Ronny Deila has flown to Croatia with a shadow squad but Dinamo Zagreb are in crisis with fans boycotting the side after a poor run and European exit.

Dinamo played well in losing in Glasgow so while I don't want to pick a winner I'll go with both to score at 10-11 (Coral). Celtic are 29-10 at McBookie and and it might be worth taking once line-ups are revealed.

The other game in Group D sees unbeaten leaders Red Bull entertain Astra and while they should win again they're no bigger than 2-7 at bet365. Salzburg games generally give you goals and even if the rest players over 3.5 goals at 5-4 with Ladbrokes has a chance.

My Europa League top tips will be posted in the morning when I've checked as much team news as possible.

I agree with your Qarabag selection on the face of it. INter are no World beaters with just 1 win in 7. Cheers for the team info, 3 1st teamers leaves a lot to be desired. I can see that price dropping fast too.

Mr. F, What do you think of this treble? I have tried to focus on games where teams need a result.

Dnipro vs St Etienne – Under 2.5 – Between them they have scored 5 goals and let in 7. Both ideally need a win for a chance to qualify. St Etienne in the French League has quite a few low scoring game. The game will be very tight. Wouldn’t expect too many goals.

Copenhagen vs AC Torino – Under 2.5 – Again, both teams have been involved in low scoring games. Both have less than 2 goals a game in their respected league. Although Torina in recent 5 away games have had games over 2.5. but 4 of them were against top teams: Juve, Roma, Lazio and Napoli. All AC Torino need is a draw and they are away and Copenhagen are out of the competition no matter what, I expect a low scoring game. I might even risk a 0 – 0 or a 0 – 1 to Torino.

Apollon Limassol vs Villarreal – Over 2.5 – Villarreal need a win to ensure they make it through. Apollon have let go atleast 2 goals in every game in the group so far. Both these have been involved in high scoring game in the group stage so far. The only thing that concerns me is that in La Liga, Villarreal has 6-8 high-low away goal record.

    Any thoughts?

Ya odds are very short , I might just hope for the win although inter have secured too spot and are away be a nice win off 20 quid

Open a Betfair account and lay Inter. It would cost you about £250 to guarantee a win of £100 (£95 – commission). Still winning £550 if Inter win,

    • Mr Fixit 9 years ago

boom, no such thing as a “safe” treble. Every bet has a risk factor so get that into your head.
