IT’S only a fortnight until Christmas – so now is the perfect time for a winning Scottish Football League treble that would fill us with festive cheer and have the bookies crying into their mulled wine.
We kick off in the Irn-Bru First Division and focus on Dundee’s home clash with Queen of the South.
After a bitterly disappointing start to the season that saw them prop up the division Barry Smith’s men have gone on a decent run and as a result have moved up to third place.
Wins over Raith, Stirling, Morton, Falkirk and Hamilton have the Dark Blues flying and boss Smith has been rewarded for his efforts after winning November’s First Division Manager of the Month award.
They go into this clash seven points ahead of Queens and know Gus MacPherson’s men will give them a run for their money after thrashing Ayr 4-1 last weekend.
But I reckon the Dens men will be too strong for the Palmerston side and am taking them as the first side in my SFL treble at 8-13 with bet365, sportingbet and William Hill.
We stay in the Irn-Bru First Division and look in on Falkirk’s home encounter with Hamilton. While the Bairns go into this one chasing promotion in second place, Accies are in freefall and are still trying to recover from last week’s humiliating 6-1 thrashing at home to Dundee.
Although Billy Reid’s men will be desperate to make up for that hammering, with only one victory in their last six matches I can’t see anything other than a home win for Steven Pressley’s side.
Take the Bairns to notch up all three points at 10-11 with William Hill. We finish up in the Third Division and Stranraer’s home clash with East Stirling.
After a disappointing run of results Keith Knox’s Blues finally got their promotion push back on track in midweek as they ran out convincing 3-0 winners away to league leaders Annan.
The Shire were also victors over Annan last weekend but Knox’s side have now recovered from their slump and can go on a winning run. Go for a win for the Stair Park men at 4-9 with Coral and William Hill.
