THERE were shocks galore in the Ramsdens Cup last week – and the advice would be tread warily when looking at today’s League Cup clashes.

The likes of Dunfermline, Ayr and Rangers all failed to win in 90 minutes. One of the stand-out scorelines was Elgin 5, Arbroath 7 and you’ve got to fear for the Highlanders who head to a solid-looking Falkirk side.

Best you’ll get on the Bairns is 3-10 at BetVictor but it could pay to back them on the handicaps.

New striker Lyle Taylor has been on fire in pre-season and hit a double against Stirling last week – if you can get a price back him for the opener. Falkirk are 5-6 at McBookie.com -1 and 9-5 at Paddy Power -2.

If they tighten up the back Arbroath should see off Stirling at home and are 8-15 (BetVictor, Ladbrokes) to do so.

Ayr, Dumbarton and Hamilton all suffered defeats last week but should get back on track at home to Third Division trio Clyde, Albion Rovers and Annan respectively.

That treble pays a best £29.10 to a £10 stake (Hills).

Brechin should take confidence from forcing Rangers to go to extra time and are also worth a look at 5-2 (bet365) at Stenhousemuir.

Recommendations

Falkirk -2
(9-5, Paddy Power)

Falkirk -1
(5-6, McBookie.com)
