WITH the international fixtures coming up this weekend it's been a bit quiet over the last few days here at BP HQ. With nothing really taking the eye on the goals front, we're going to have a go at something a bit different tonight as we try the corners market in the Palmeiras v Botafoga game in Brazil at 10.30pm.
Palmeiras, who play in the Campeonata Paulista, absolutely love a corner and their last home against Paulista saw there being 14 by half-time with Palmeiras having won the majority of them in a match that ended with 18 corners.
Their most recent fixture, away to Sao Caetano, ended with 13 corners with Palmeiras winning 10 of them and continuing a bit of a streak on winning the Race to 9 corners market.
Some corners markets are already available with Bet365 including HT corners, Asian Corners and Alternate Corners but you'll have to wait until this game comes in-play to have a go at Race to 9, which should be priced up around the 5/4 mark.

Al, that is my usual bet when it comes to corners, particularly with Porto who love their corners. Asian corners gives a safety net if the corners come to 6, but a win if it goes over

Sean, a couple of things. I never described Westerlo -1 as a banker, I rarely use that term. Secondly, Westerlo are not one of the sides I haven’t heard of. They’re pretty well known to me, it’s the likes of ENPPI and Nigata I didn’t know. I wouldn’t tip a team I was unfamiliar with even if they were mentioned on the site. At the end of the day Westerlo won 1-0 so the tip was unlucky rather than rubbish. I only suggested the -1 because they were pretty short just to win.

Corners are completely random, sometimes they come in easy other times you are lucky to get over 8 in full 90 mins. But generally attacking teams like porto, ajax are more likely but still even then it’s a lottery
Striker, that’s true but remember Bounty Punter’s tips are not random. They are based on stats, not form. The stats suggested a pile of corners and it can still happen.

Botafago will have to go for it now though if they want to get anything out of the match, meaning if they throw extra men forward it’ll leave space at the back for Palmeiras to exploit on the break.

Everything in a football match is random. Alot of corners were expected in this match going by previous form, it’s not really happened so far but there’s still 45 mins to change that!
How often do you see a game finish with 4-5 goals + when both teams struggled to hit a barn door in their last few games? Or a game finish 0-0 or with 1 or 2 goals, when both teams have been banging them in for fun previously?

Yes true, but at least with goals the objective is for teams to aim for the net. Corners happen if the defenders are less concerned about conceding corners and keep blocking wingers etc, our if strikers regularly take hard shots at goal where the goalie has to tip it over etc But some games you see end up being scrappy with the ball just being lobbed in the centre and referees giving goal kicks even when it was blatantly a deflection etc. But saying that, still 45 mins left and we could easily get over 12 corners
Striker, 8 corners in first 60 minutes suggests four more so bets could be there or thereabouts.
Corners can happen at any time though! a deflected cross, tackle, clearance, deflected shot, keeper tipping it round the post or over the bar. 4-4 now, hopefully Palmeiras get the next one!

Ok, see what you can do then. Maybe a have a league for x amount of weeks using the weekly tournament with points for the top 6 players or something along those lines? With some prizes (if you can get some free bets, or 888poker credit) for the players who top the league at the end of it?
Or even a knockout format using the weekly comp, players get drawn against each other & whoever finishes highest in the comp goes through to the next round.

Like Mr Fixit says we don’t just take a flyer on bets like this and that stats were good. Palmerias are/were the corner kings of Brazilian footy and their style of attacking down the flanks usually produces the goods but typically tonight wasn’t one of those nights.
Gonna stay away from the corner betting now unless we spot a clear bookies error in pricing.

I placed the bet then went to bed! So it appears as if it got stuck on 12 corners for almost the last 20 minutes. We went from an average of a corner every 6 minutes to none at all which is very unlucky.
Rick, there were no corners in the last 17 minutes which was bizarre. Very unlucky but for anyone who had stayed up to watch I’d imagine they could have won by backing exactly 12 at some stage in the last 10 minutes.
I’d like to thank you bp I took over 10 corners in match at just over evens so made a return, wouldn’t have even thought to do it if it wasn’t for you so keep tipping and punters can take, slightly adjust or leave your tips, its up to them. Wanted to thank a few people as well such as Mr f, milesey, muzza, Guido, Danny, al, I’ve found a lot of your advice very useful, keep up the good work. We win some we lose some :-)
