Arsenal v Everton
Premier League. Kick-Off: Sunday 23rd September, 16:00pm.
ARSENAL just love to score goals against Everton, and in the last 9 match ups have managed to notch at least 2, and have even managed 5 on two occasions including the last meeting.
Of course, scoring goals is not the Gunners problem this season, its keeping them out the other end that is giving Emery his biggest headache. Arsenal are without a clean sheet since the last pre-season friendly against Lazio, and unfortunately, I am pretty confident Everton can score tomorrow, as they have in every game they’ve played this season.
It was all going swimmingly well for Leno on is debut against Vorskla on Thursday night, with a lovely clean sheet to his name and less than 15mins to go. But then, inexplicably, his defence let him down not once but twice, as the Ukrainian minnows ended up with 2 very unexpected goals.
I don’t think he did enough to warrant his first premier league start, and I’m expecting Cech to retain his place in goal, with what looks to be Emery’s first choice back line in front of him, Bellerin, Mustafi, Sokratis and Monreal.
Torreira had an excellent game on Thursday and must surely now have done enough to warrant his first league start alongside Xhaka. Emery experimented with Mkhitaryan in the centre of midfield in the Europa league and he had a very good game.
I do wonder if he did enough to keep his place or if we will see Ramsey come back into the team.
In attack we should see Lacazette, Aubamayang and Ozil continue, although Iwobi was brilliant on Thursday and may have done enough to convince Emery he deserves a start.
Aubamayang is really starting to find some form with 3 in his last 3, and likewise, Ozil has gone through a difficult period but now looks like he is starting to enjoy his football again and has even managed to score himself in his last two outings.
Whoever starts, we should see goals in this game, probably at both ends which leads me to the following recommended bets.
