IT’S Grand National weekend – but don’t let that stop you having a flutter in the Scottish Football Leagues.
Our man Joe Wallace has been on the case – and let’s hopes we don’t fall at the first hurdle this time around!
We start off in the Irn-Bru Second Division and focus on Airdrie’s away clash at Alloa. Airdrie have been on a great run of form, winning their last four.
They face up to an Alloa side who are without a victory in their last six. Add in the fact Airdrie have won the last five clashes between the sides and you can see why I am taking them as the first team in my treble.
Go for Airdrie to win (7-5, totesport and William Hill). Staying in the Second Division Livingston could possibly clinch the crown if they win at Stenhousemuir and other results go their way.
Gary Bollan’s men have been on a great run of results as they have charged their way to the top of the table.
And despite drawing at home to Brechin last weekend I reckon Livi will storm their way to the title by earning an away win. Go for a Livi triumph (7-10, Blue Square and 888sport).
In the Irn-Bru Third Division Stranraer got back to winning ways last weekend, running out 3-1 victors over Berwick.
The Blues had been on the slide as they lost their place at the top of the division but last week’s win has given them hope of returning to the Second Division via the play-offs.
They clash with East Stirling and the last time the clubs met Stranraer thrashed them 4-1 at Stair Park so I reckon they will once again triumph.
Go for a win for Keith Knox’s men (8-13, various).
