ON the evidence of Rangers' extra-time defeat to Raith Rovers last week they are rank rotten and have no chance of beating Dundee United to reach the Scottish Cup Final.
It was a dismal display and immediately after the game I advised punters to get on United at a biggest 8-5 with bet365 – they are now 1-1. McBookie started out at 7-5 and were forced to briefly suspend betting as traders got nervous.
Asked what’s going on they were told “Raith 1, Rangers 0”. McBookie’s price is now 20-21 while the biggest available just now is 1-1.
I can’t see past the Tangerines even though Rangers are at home. Their pedestrian defence could be torn apart by the likes of speedy Gary Mackay-Steven and strike star Nadir Ciftci. Only thing that can trip United up is if they feel the pressure.
They beat Rangers last season in the Scottish Cup and I expect a repeat. With the price gone consider United minus one at 12-5(Ladbrokes).
Ibrox fans may now be tempted to support their own side and Rangers’ price has gone out to a best 3-1 at Coral and Betfred with the draw paying 13-5 at McBookie.
Mackay-Steven must be a shout at 8-1 (various) to score first and I’ll side with him ahead of Ciftci who is 5-1 at bet365.
Rangers’ best performer last week was Fraser Aird who is 6-1 at bet365 to net.
Dundee Utd -1
Mackay-Steven to score first
