The market spoke about the chances of yesterday's selection, as he was extremely weak in the market. However, it wasn't a rubbish run, as he travelled well and got tired late on, so he must've needed the run. He is still one to follow for this season as I do think he is still well handicapped on his current handicap mark.

A small field race, and a horse who can take advantage of this scenario is COUSIN OSCAR. This horse is the one who SHOULD get an easy lead of things, and when that happens in a small runner race, it can be crucial as these kind of races can become very tactical.
The minimum trip is what is ideal for the selection with three of his four wins coming at this trip, and he has been given a 40 day break to recharge the batteries after a somewhat busy summer and a poor run over fences last time out. You can ignore the most recent run as he is not as good over fences as he is over hurdles, shown by the fact he is still a maiden after five runs. The time before that he had won over hurdles after two good runs the times before. Theo Gillard gets on well with this horse, partnering him to two wins and two places from six rides. The ground shouldn't be an issue, as she seems perfectly fine on good-to-soft, and if it dries, then he handles good ground too.
You'd have to say that Lolani is the one who stands out as the main danger. He was in front of Diamond State when they previously met, and even though the latter named horse has a big swing in the weights, I don't think that he will be getting involved too much after a 222 day break and a new jumps jockey (10lb claimer taking the ride), this seems like a race to blow away the cobwebs for Diamond State. As for Lolani, I think he might be tapped for a little speed in this race as it could become tactical, and he stays 2m 4f strongly. As for the last horse, My Macho Man has shown very little, but does carry a small weight, but on the bare form he has to show something more to win.

A horse who appeared to have the world at her feet when contesting in bumpers was, COQUELICOT, but it hasn't quite worked out since she moved to hurdling. This mare was a three time winner in bumpers, which includes a Class 1 Listed race.
Connections have decided it is time to put her up in trip, and I tend to agree that this could be the winning formula for Coquelicot. In her previous hurdle races she has been staying on over much shorter trips, so the logical step would be to try her at a longer distance. Her form over hurdles isn't all that bad despite the fact she is still a maiden. She finished 6L & 8L behind Pure Bliss, and that horse has gone on to be a 130+ rated horse, which included a win at the Punchestown sprint festival in a trappy little handicap. Another positive for the selection about the step up in trip is the fact she should be able to be more fluent over the hurdles.
Going over a longer distance generally means a slower pace, and that should allow her and Rex Dingle to meet the hurdles on a better stride. She recently had a run out on the flat, and it wasn't a bad effort considering it was over 1m 6f where she only weakened in the last furlong. That would have been a good pipe opener for this race and got her used to her new wind after a wind-op over the summer. Coquelicot's trainer, Anthony Honeyball, has also reached for the blinkers, which should also help with her jumping and keep her mind focused on the task in hand.

Have taken a risk, and it is a risk on Breakfast Club 5.00 dundalk.
This time last year this horse was rated 84 but has dropped to a mark of 58 for today’s race.
His last effort was a much better effort when 5th beaten 3L with an sp of 25/1. He’s been dropped a 1lb for that run but it’s the fact that he tries 7f for the first time that has tempted me here.
His sire raced mainly over 7f and so did the dam, so on breeding should be better suited to this distance. The jockey also takes 7lbs off. The trainer also has the current fav in the race and how many times have we seen the lesser of the 2 runners come out on top.
Currently 33/1 ew 4 places sky WH
I’m on 30/1 3 places pp
BOL
I saw someone has napped it in the Racing Post naps competition as well.
Backed into 12/1 but never in it. Stayed on but was too far back to make any impact.
Better draw and jockey next time could get closer.

Lady xenia 3.15 kempton 40s, massive drift from 6s worth a ew, fav ladt time out. GL
40-1 for 4 places at SKYBET Pete,
20-1 ew extra 6 places, had a small investment on this.
Big price for a gosden horse, hell of a drift, maybe one of its legs have dropped off 😁
Think it did mate. Finished last😒
Zebrowski gets up at 5/2 👍🇭🇰
Romantic Combo gets up too at 9/2 for a single and 2/4 at Happy Valley. 🇭🇰
Put a small single on it myself at 4/1 but didn’t advise it but it was between that and Whiskey Neat so wrong pick but that’ll do nicely from my morning picks.
🐎🇺🇸 Del Mar gets prepped for Breeders Cup with few good races tonight.
Del Mar -R7… Moonlight D’Oro 6/4 Skybet boost(**** won nicely in a G3 last time and lightly raced rated 100 already so with improvement can take this and Flavian Prat keeps the ride)
Finger Lakes -R8…Miss Penelopepitstop. 2/1(***
Much like above, only ran 4x and penny dropped for big win then up in grade he won again to win going away so improvement is on the cards he could get the hat trick)
