A 20-RUNNER apprentices’ handicap isn’t the safest of betting mediums at Ascot, but BERKSHIRE BOY (4.55) went into my notebook after a never-nearer fifth at Lingfield on his return.
That run left the impression there was another day in mind and this looks like the plan. Andrew Balding gives the leg up to rising star Jason Watson, who can claim 5lb here, and Berkshire Boy enjoyed a bit of cut underfoot when scoring with something in hand at Chepstow last season.
The third horse that day was yesterday’s smooth Yarmouth winner Salt Whistle Bay and he gave him 4lb and a three lengths beating. He also ran a pleasing fourth to Jeremy Noseda’s Winning Ways at Ascot last May, so has some course form against his name.
JAALBOOT (3.35) fared with a fair degree of promise on his debut for Mark Johnston and should be primed for a big run in the 7f Class 6 handicap at Wolverhampton.
Formerly with Owen Burrows, Jaalboot was beaten three lengths into fourth behind Kion at Chelmsford City in March. The form didn’t look anything special at the time but third horse Jungle Room came out next time to land a gamble here for Kevin Ryan, beating the Roger Varian-trained Faadhel.
The two divisions of the fillies’ novice stakes are interesting as there is a good form line connecting NAWASSI (4.45) and REVALUE (5.20).
John Gosden’s Nawassi beat Revalue at Newmarket in October receiving 6lb and although a dismal last behind Soliloquy in the Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes at the Craven meeting, she is back in her own grade here. Revalue had earlier won a similar novice stakes at Kempton and is returning from her winter break for Charlie Hills. The betting market should tell us if she is ready to do herself justice.

Barry Hawkins is looking good just needing two more frames for the win, advised at 2/1 he is now 1/25
Mark Williams continues tomorrow also and at 4-4 the antepost bet of Williams to win his quarter is still on in this the final match for the bet which was advised at 5/1
Just caught up on the snooker this morning Ding looks a broken man.
With the Mark Williams game this is some of the best snooker i have seen him play in a long time although Ali Carter is playing some good stuff himself, it makes for a fascinating match but i do see Williams pulling away to win by 2 or 3.
Mendelssohn john/Alan. Can you see a Kentucky derby victory
Not for me, I don’t rate the Dubai form as much as other people are, it’s different in America, different track, different race pace and he won’t have it all his own way like Dubai

Pontefract
9-1 e/w 1-2-3-4
This horse makes plenty of appeal today reapearing after running just last week after having had a few months off the track before. Drawn low, due to go up 1lb in future handicapps so is well in at the weights, goes on soft ground. Plenty of boxes are ticked i can see this horse making the frame.
I also am keen on Redgrave in the same race who is having first run for new trainer although drawn poorly and i will have a saver on this e/w at 20-1.

One more frame needed for Mark Williams and he is now as low as 9/4 for the title, 25/1 antepost looks decent but one game at a time and one frame for a semi-final place
? John b, if you haven’t seen it, check out williams no look shot in the 1st round.?

Yeah I saw it, nearly playing the best snooker of his career this season
Paddypower has had alot of problems recently with their markets available in play on the big champions league games. Weren’t offering bts in the arsenal athletico game in play after 5 mins with me as I wanted to place that bet.
