Having secured a place in next year’s European Championship, Netherlands end their qualifying campaign with a trip to Gibraltar on Tuesday. The Gibraltarians have been no match for anyone in Group B and Netherlands will be confident of easing to another comfortable victory.
Gibraltar are coming off a 14-0 defeat to France in their previous qualifying fixture. They offered very little resistance, facing 39 shots on goal while also failing to muster a single attempt themselves throughout the encounter.
That was the worst defeat in history for Gibraltar, who are usually the whipping boys of most qualifying campaigns. They have lost every match in these qualifiers and have been rooted to the foot of the table right from the start.
The defeat to France highlights a poor defensive record for Gibraltar, who have now conceded the most goals in the entire qualifying series. Julio Ribas’ men have also failed to find the net and often finish games without registering a single attempt on target.
Netherlands head into Tuesday’s clash off the back of a hard fought 1-0 victory over Republic of Ireland in their previous qualifying fixture. Wout Weghorst struck the only goal early in the first half and they were able to hold on for the win.
That result means Netherlands have now secured a place in next year’s tournament in Germany as they hold a three point lead and a better head to head over Greece with one match left to play. However, manager Ronald Koeman will still be keen to end their campaign on a high note.
Having found things difficult earlier in the year, Netherlands appear to have rediscovered their form at the right time. They have won four of their last five qualifying matches, keeping three clean sheets in that run.

Netherland are considered overwhelming favourites among the bookies with a win priced at 1/000 with Paddy Power. An unlikely victory for Gibraltar is valued at 90/1 by William Hill while Paddy Power is offering odds of 50/1 for a draw.

Netherland have won all three previous meetings with Gibraltar and picked up a 3-0 victory in the reverse fixture back in March. The Dutch earned a 7-0 victory on their last visit to Gibraltar during the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
Players to watch
Wout Werghost has three goals in the last five qualifying matches and could be worth keeping an eye on for Netherlands. The striker is priced at 4/11 by bet365 to maintain his scoring run on Tuesday while Cody Gakpo could also be worth keeping an eye on in the same market at 3/10 with bet365.
With Gibraltar failing to score a single goal in these qualifiers, Netherlands will be targeting a shutout on Tuesday. Virgil Van Dijk and Stefan de Vrij are likely to continue in defence and can lead the visitors to a clean sheet at 1/6 with Betfred.
