IT'S England v Spain in the Champions League semi-finals this week and tonight's clash between the league leaders in the Premier League and La Liga should be fascinating battle on several fronts.
It's the richest club in the world up against the 13-time champions of Europe, it's two-time winner Pep Guardiola going head-to-head with three-time winner Carlo Ancelotti, it's De Bruyne v Modric, it's Man City v Real Madrid.
On paper there's not much to separate the sides but the bookies have City as clear favourites to qualify for the final at just 1/3.
A win tonight at the Etihad is just 9/20 with Madrid a massive 11/2. That's a couple of points bigger than they were for their trip to PSG in the last 16. To be fair they didn't win in Paris but a 1-0 defeat was overturned convincingly back at the Bernabeu so Ancelotti's men probably deserve a bit more respect.
It took PSG until the 94th minute to break Real Madrid down at the Parc des Princes and in a similar vein it took City 70 minutes to break the deadlock against Atletico in the previous round at the Etihad. It could be another case of both sides easing themselves in to this tie. Over 2.5 Goals looks very short at 4/6 but rather than back Under 2.5 goals – who wants to see that? – take the 5/6 on offer for no goal before the 26th minute.
With so much attacking talent on show no goalscorer goes against the grain and is a bit of a longshot at 14/1 but City's last two Champions League matches at the Etihad have seen just one goal scored and Madrid have conceded just two away goals in five matches in the competition this season.

Odds of around 5/4 for BTTS and over 2.5 goals are generous for the City v R Madrid game, as are the odds of around 2/1 for BTTS and over 3.5 goals.
City know their best form of defence will be to attack. No Cancelo or Walker which means it could see Nathan Ake fill in at right back. The unfamiliarity of that position could see Vinicius Jr. cause him a few headaches. I’ll wait for team news but Ake to get booked seems a logical choice. I can’t see Benzema not scoring, he posed Chelsea so many problems and despite his age is one of the Mose deadly finishers in world football.
I can see why the bookies are leaning towards City but odds of 3/1 for City to concede over 1.5 goals, again seems overpriced and I’ll be taking odds of around 12/1 for Real Madrid over 2.5TG.
With both teams looking to expose injury issues in defensive areas of the field, I don’t think it will be a typically cagey first leg. Both teams know there’s oppurtunities to exploit. The thought of Zinchenko and Ake at full back for City will have the Real Madrid wingers rubbing their hands. Dias as good as he is, has just come back from an injury lay off and there will be some rustiness there.
I think we’re in for a cracker. The bookies have wrote off Real Madrid. Not saying they will win tonight but they are more than capable of hitting two or three in City’s backyard. Wouldn’t be surprised if we see a 2-2 or a 3-3 draw.
