Thursdays top tips 2

The Europa League represents Manchester United's last chance to salvage something from another miserable season but they have a tricky tie against Real Sociedad in the last 16.

I fancied Fulham to knock United out of the FA Cup on Sunday and they duly brought up one of our Super Singles by winning on penalties at Old Trafford.

That has cranked up the pressure on Ruben Amorim heading to the Basque country for the first leg of tonight's last-16 clash.

If United are to be playing European football this season they need to win this competition so Real Sociedad will be hoping to prey on their frayed nerves,

Real Sociedad vs Manchester United top betting tips

The good news for Amorim is Real Sociedad aren't in great form themselves, having lost their last two games to Real Madrid and Barcelona, with the La Liga leaders dishing out a 4-0 thrashing at the weekend.

But Imanol Alguacil's men have been pretty strong at home of late, winning four of their last five. That included a 5-2 thrashing of Midtjylland in their last Europa League game so a Real Sociedad win could be worth a punt at 21/20 with BoyleSports.

First legs can often be cagey so it may also pay to back against a thriller. Betting against BTTS pays 10/11 while the half-time draw offers a tiny bit more value at 20/21.

AZ Alkmaar vs Tottenham Hotspur top betting tips

Tottenham still lead the betting for Europa League glory, which is something of a surprise given how flaky they've been all season.

But Ange Postecoglou has key players coming back from injury and Spurs will also be desperate to salvage a poor season by getting their hands on the trophy.

AZ Alkmaar represent a potential banana skin though, with the Dutch side upsetting the odds in the last round by knocking out a Galatasaray side who defeated Tottenham in the league phase.

Going for goals looks like the best option tonight after AZ beat the Turks 4-1 at home. BTTS is just 1/2 but if you combine it with no draw it boosts the odds to 6/5 at BoyleSports.

I also like over 1.5 first-half strikes and that pays 11/8 with the same firm.

Fenerbahce vs Rangers top betting tips

Rangers are a club in crisis domestically but they've saved their best for the Europa League this season and it will be interesting to see how they get on against Fenerbahce.

Barry Ferguson is now in the dugout after Philippe Clement was binned and it has been a mixed bag for the former skipper so far, with a rousing 4-2 win at Kilmarnock followed up by a pitiful 2-1 loss at home to Motherwell.

Now he has to pit his wits against Jose Mourinho, with the Special One leading Fenerbahce to an 18-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

Every time I think Rangers are going to be battered by a superior side in Europe, they somehow pull a big performance out of the bag.

But Fenerbahce should be too strong for them and I like the 23/20 on offer at BoyleSports for the Turks to be winning at half-time.

Youssef En-Nesyri has hit 24 goals this season so the Moroccan looks pretty decent value at 6/5 for anytime scorer.

FC Copenhagen v Chelsea top betting tips

Chelsea are the red-hot Conference League favourites after breezing through the league phase but things are getting a bit more tricky for them now we're into the knockout stages.

Danish league leaders Copenhagen won't be a pushover in the last 16, although the bookies think otherwise as they price the Blues at just 11/20 for a win on the road.

It will be interesting to see if Enzo Maresca continues his policy of fielding a shadow side in Europe or goes much stronger with the finishing line in sight.

The fact Cole Palmer has be reinstated to the European squad suggests he will go pretty strong and Pedro Neto should lead the line again. The Portuguese flyer is 9/4 to follow up the goal he scored against Southampton last time out.

Copenhagen should have a go and over 9.5 corners looks good at 23/20 in what promises to be an open game. Combining BTTS with over 2.5 goals also pays a decent 20/21.

You can do better than those odds.

Paddy (and Betfair Sportsbook) offer 8/1 on a Rangers red card. That’s where my fiver is going.

(a Fener red is 10/1 if you’re feeling brave but I won’t be wasting a penny on that)

    Molde over 2.5 cards @ 13/8 (bet365)

    Rangers over 2.5 cards @ 10/11 (bet365)

    Small stakes

    Over 2.5 card double @ 4/1 (bet365)

    Over 3.5 card double @ 18/1 (bet365)

All 4 bets landed last night in the highlands at good prices 👍

Molde and Legia met at this stage in the competition last year with 13 cards across both legs and Molde picking up 4+ in each game, hoping for more of the same here and 13/8 on 3+ cards won’t be far off.

Absolute roll of the dice what Rangers team turns up tonight with an evident issue around mentality but don’t think there will be a lack of drama in the game.

    Good luck 🤞
