SCOTTISH clubs have a bad habit for falling at the first hurdle in Euro qualifying but Kilmarnock and St Mirren are still very much in the race as they head into their second legs tonight.

The bookies wrote Killie off after they were drawn against Belgian club Cercle Brugge but I thought they had underestimated Derek McInnes' men and took advantage by backing them in the double chance at Rugby Park.

That match ended 1-1 yet Kilmarnock were the better side and they might live to regret missing a few chances at the end as they pushed for what would have been a deserved winner.

They now need to avoid defeat over in Belgium tonight but can heart from the fact Cercle Brugge crashed 3-0 at Westerlo in their domestic opener and don't look anywhere near as slick as billed.

Cercle Brugge v Kilmarnock Top Betting Tips

Despite poor displays in the first two games of the new campaign, Cercle Brugge are still red-hot favourites for this Europa League clash at 1/4 to qualify and 1/2 for a win inside 90 minutes.

Those odds don't look justified based on the first leg but you have to factor in Kilmarnock's awful plastic pitch, which forced the Belgians to be more direct than usual.

They should be better on home soil but McInnes has his defence well-drilled so I'm expecting another tight game. Betting against BTTS looks good at evens while under 2.5 goals pays 6/5.

We saw 16 corners in the first leg so I like the 20/23 on offer at BetVictor for over 9.5 flag kicks tonight while over 6.5 Cercle corners pays 11/10 with William Hill.

St Mirren v Valur Top Tips

St Mirren's return to Europe for the first time since 1987 went pretty well last week as they returned from Iceland with a 0-0 draw after keeping Valur out.

Quite how that first leg ended scoreless is a mystery as both sides blew so many chances, frustrating our man Greg after he had tipped plenty of goals.

The Buddies were the better side by all accounts so they look decent value at 5/6 with Betfred to win inside 90 minutes, especially with Valur's star man Gylfi Sigurdsson ruled out with injury.

With a competitive game under the belt, Stephen Robinson's men should be sharper and they are 6/4 to score in both halves.

It's another game that promises a few corners and over 11 flag kicks pays 5/4 with Bet365.

Vaduz v St Patrick's Athletic Top Tips

Irish club St Partick's Athletic had a memorable night last week as they beat Vaduz 3-1 on home soil in the Conference League qualifiers.

Although Vaduz come from Liechtenstein, that result was still a scalp for St Pat's as their opponents play in the Swiss second tier and reached the group stage of this competition just two years ago.

Betfred make Vaduz just 4/7 for a win back in Leichtenstein but the odds increase to 9/4 if you back them go through. That could be worth a punt as they only need two goals to level the tie up.

I also like the 11/8 available on Vaduz scoring in both halves as they need to go for it to keep their hopes alive.

  • Over 11 corners in St Mirren v Vaduz 5/4 Bet365

Just seen your Nb myself and thought it’s a hellish price…have you heard any team news? Would presume if Stroud and Williams are starting QBs it’s a given?

I don’t think we will see either of the starting QBs . But keenum and Bagent likely to start. Still huge value imo for the whole match

“The Texans are expected to start backup quarterback Davis Mills against the Bears, who are starting backup Travis Bagent with top overall pick and former USC star quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams’ NFL debut put on hold.”
