WITH the football on the backburner until the final tomorrow we have a belter of a day of horse racing and with ITV racing covering 10 live races from across the UK it’s a great day to spend on the couch or in a good racing pub with a few bets on.
Unfortunately I’ve got the future mother-in-law visiting so the pub is probably a pipe dream for me.
12.45 Ascot
LINE OF REASON looked back in form last time out at Ayr and I always like to back sprinters who are in form. He is still well handicapped compared to last season’s form and looks a value bet here.
1.40 Newmarket
A competitive handicap but one of the class acts is MUBTASIM who has held his form well in grade 1 races and now drops into a handicap for the first time. I think he will be too classy for most of these and should go very close.
2.15 Newmarket
Regular followers will remember that we backed SANDS OF MALI at Royal Ascot and he was a strong-finishing second in a really competitive race, finishing first of those who came along the stand side. I am convinced he will get better again and although he is pitched in against some older sprinters here I can see him winning.
3.20 Newmarket
CLUBBABLE is an improving filly who won nicely at Chelmsford and then was an excellent 2nd in a listed race last time out. She isn’t the only improver in this race by any means but we’re getting a nice double figure price for a horse in good form and with no question marks so that will do nicely for me.
3.35 Ascot
My last tip runs in a race that isn’t covered in the live ITV races but you should be able to watch it on your mobile apps if you have a bet or Racing UK if you are a subscriber. GOSSIP COLUMN for Ian Williams is an improving type who has won his last two in good style. The way he won last time against a decent horse suggests to me he has more to give so the current price looks generous.
