THERE is a runaway leader in Scotland's 3rd tier in Arbroath but nearest rivals Raith Rovers after a poor start to the season are keeping pace with the Gayfield Park side. They make the trip up the east coast to Montrose and will be looking to maintain their excellent run of form.

Montrose v Raith Rovers (3pm)

If Raith are to close the gap on leaders Arbroath, these are the sort of matches they can't afford to lose. They are in fine shape having won 4 of their last 5 and they have one of the hottest strikers in the league at the moment in Kevin Nisbet.

The young striker has 17 goal for the season already, has 9 goals in his last 9 games and will be looking to continue his fine scoring form against a Montrose side who have won just one of their last 9 home matches.

The hosts have a couple of experienced heads in their side (Sean Dillon, Paddy Cregg) and although they have competed well in this league since promotion last year, they are playing an in-form Raith side who I feel have enough quality to edge this and keep the pressure on Arbroath at the top.

Recommended Bet

  • Raith Rovers to beat Montrose

Celtic v Kilmarnock (3pm)

Game of the day comes from Celtic Park as league leaders Kilmarnock, that's right league leaders, look to continue their exceptional form under boss Steve Clarke

You have to take your hat off to how Kilmarnock have performed over the last 12 months and its fitting that as soon as they go top of the league they then face Celtic.

It's great for Scottish football that we are this far into the season and it's not Celtic at the top – there has been comparisons to Killie doing a Leicester – that's not going to happen but as long as they are up there they can dream.

Kilmarnock have a terrific record against Celtic and Rangers since Clarke took over and while I wouldn't be surprised to see them score, their time at the top will be shortlived as Celtic have too much quality and will run out easy winners.

I was really surprised when I saw the prices being offered for over 2.5 goals – it's the biggest price I can remember a Celtic home game being over 2.5 in the league, well, ever.

They were disappointing against Motherwell midweek but with players like Christie and Forrest at the top of their game, I think this will be an entertaining affair with goals and Celtic running out comfortable winners.

Recommended Bet

  • Over 2.5 match goals
  • 5/6 (Marathonbet) (NB)
