FRENCH Ligue 2 action as Clermont look to continue their fine form against an Ajaccio side who don't like away games.
Clermont Foot v Ajaccio GFCA (7pm)
The hosts have had a decent start to the season and after a poor opening three games collecting just one point they are unbeaten in their last 5 with 11 points.
It's their home form that stands out for me – only rampant Metz have left here with three points this season. Clermont have lost just one of their last 14 home games and looking back further they have lost just 5 of their last 26 games league games on home soil.
Ajaccio come into this off the back of two poor results, a 4-1 hammering at Brest, they then gave bottom club Nancy their first three points of the season in a 1-0 defeat.
Like a lot of French clubs they often suffer from travel sickness and their record away from home is grim reading, 10 defeats from their last 14 games (just two wins). And with just 4 wins from their last 24, it’s going to be a tough ask to take something from this game against a side who are one of the form teams in the league strong at home.
Clermont are unbeaten in 9 of their last 12 against today's visitors and I'm taking them to continue their good run of results.

AC Ajaccio v Valenciennes (7pm)
You have to feel for the Ajaccio fans – there can’t be too many clubs out there who have failed to score in 5 consecutive games but that’s what Ajaccio fans have had to endure. One solitary goal is all they have had to cheer in their last 7 matches which is an appalling return.
Historically Ajaccio do most of their good work at home and I feel they won’t have to wait too much longer to end their 460-minute goal drought.
Valenciennes got their season back on track with a good 4-1 home win over struggling Red Star but away from home they have struggled – just 2 clean sheets from their last 21 on the road always makes life difficult.
But they have scored in their last 8 matches away from home and with 11 of the last 14 meetings between these sides seeing both teams scoring I think this is worth a chance.
Recommended Bet
- Both teams to score
- (1-1, Ladbrokes)
Will also be on my usual Skybet specials (goal in the first half 22-1 & over 1.5 goals 14-1)
Corals have it at 33/1 for first half and 15/1 over 1.5
Cheers fella – didn’t realise Coral did these markets, good to know
Nae luck; Noticed Clermont got injury time goal disallowed Greg; sometimes these goals are just tap ins in the knowledge that a fouls been given or offside, etc, but don’t know if this was a controversial one; well done on the BTTS
