JANUARY the 1st always presents a full English card and there are some cracking looking games to get stuck into. There are 4 games I'll be focusing on.
Bradford v Accrington (KO 3pm)
It was a slow start for Bradford boss David Hopkins but he has finally got his team going as they look to escape the relegation zone.
They've won 3 of their last 4 games (4-0 2-0 0-4), only a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Sunderland stopped them making it 4 in a row.
They'll need to start turning Valley Parade into a fortress and given there will be at least 18,000 fans there today to cheer them on, they'll be confidant of making it 4 home wins on the spin.
Accrington come into to this off the back of a 4-0 home defeat to Peterborough and away from home they've only won one of their last 7 matches and that was at basement boys Plymouth.
Bradford will be full of confidence after Saturdays 4-0 hammering of Rochdale and look in better shape coming into this match. They have home advantage and really need another three points to pull themselves away from the relegation places.
Torn between the win and team goals so going to split stakes across both as my main bets
Recommended Bet:
- Bradford to Win
- 31/20 (Bet365)
- Bradford over 1.5 team goals
- 23/20 (Coral)

Blackburn v West Bromwich Albion (K0 3pm)
You have to feel for poor Blackburn, their last three matches have come against Norwich (2nd) Leeds (1st) and Sheff United (4th) they lost all three and now they face 3rd placed WBA.
That's a horrible run of fixtures to have especially as they face a WBA side who are unbeaten in 9 ( 6 wins 3 draws ) and who will have star sticker Jay Rodriguez back in their squad after his red card against Sheff W was rescinded.
Blackburn can take solace from the fact their home form has been terrific with just one two defeats in 11 home games (both against top three clubs).
This will be a tough game for WBA but they have two of the leagues top marksman in Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle so will always fancy their chances of scoring goals.
Blackburn have seen 7 of their last 9 at home end with both sides scoring and we should see some goals here, especially given how good WBA have been away from home.
Recommended Bets:
- Over 2.5 Match goals
- 41/50 (Marathonbet)
- WBA over Team Goals
- 21/20 (Coral)

Brentford v Norwich (KO 3pm)
One thing Norwich fans cant complain about is the number of goals and late match excitement they have seen this season – They score and conceded a ridiculous number of goals late in matches (especially 90+ min goals)
Their last 11 games have seen an incredible 49 goals scored (9 of those games went over 2.5 goals and of those, 8 went over 3.5 goals
Having looked at their last 6 games, 13 goals have been scored in the last 20 mins with 7 of those goals coming after the 88th min
A goal after 73 mins is 5/6 with Bet365 but best betting Inplay here with two bets
Recommended Bets:
- Goal after 70 mins
- Inplay (will be around 4/5)
- Goal after 85 mins
- Inplay (will be around 2/1)
Will also be on the usual first half goals and over 1.5 match goals in league One and Two
I did the goal in 1st half of the Championship Games @ 75/1 to £5.
Gutted.
Blackburn v WBA the only match to let me down.
