HAD a good look at the SPFL antepost markets and I've found two crackers.
To be honest the bookies have absolutely lost the plot with the pricing of these and they should be punished.
- Hearts to finish in the top six
- (4-9, bet365)
Bet365 have priced this up at 4-9 which is absolutely ridiculous. Hearts have one of the biggest budgets in the league outside of Celtic and Rangers and have already made a dozen signings. Yes, they have to gel, but managed to get Steven Naismith back.
Kyle Lafferty will score 15+ goals for them and it's daft to think two clubs outside of the “big five” will finish above Hearts. Get this on all of your antepost accumulators or if you want to make an investment get it on as a single. They should be 1-4 or 1-5.
****************************
- Kilmarnock to finish in the bottom six
- (6-4, bet365)
This is a terrific price – Killie are 8-15 to finish in the top six which again is again another grossly misguided.
To set the scene the top six next season will be Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen, Hibs and Hearts (not necessarily in that order though).
That means you essentially have one top-six place remaining for the other seven teams to fight for. You can exclude Livingston, Hamilton and probably St Mirren which leaves four clubs fighting for that last spot (St Johnstone, Motherwell, Dundee, Kilmarnock).
There’s really not a lot between these four yet the bookies have been taken in by Killie’s terrific season last year and don’t get me wrong, Steve Clarke and Kilmarnock deserved all of the plaudits they got but to expect them the be able to reach last season's level of performance is a huge ask.
I’m not saying Killie are going to have a bad season but Kris Boyd and are Kirk Broadfoot aren’t getting any younger, they’ve lost a few players and have only brought in two. The bookies are basing their price purely on last season's efforts and that should be exploited – 6-4 is a cracking price for Killie not to make the top six.
You’re backing one of Motherwell, St Johnstone or Dundee to finish above them. It's such a competitive league and to have Killie odds on for top six is foolish.
