I'VE already tipped wins for Atletico Madrid and Lyon on Sunday night but here are Milesey's thoughts on the games.

Atletico Madrid v Valencia (8pm)

This glittering tie could well be the showpiece of the weekend as two sleeping giants battle it out. Bragging rights are owned by Valencia who won by two goals earlier in the season.

Los Che kept their Champions League credentials alive with a 3-0 victory against Betis who probably deserved more out of the game.

Atletico kept pace with Real with a comfortable 2-0 victory against Osasuna and sit in third place a solitary point behind their city rivals.

Powerful striker Diego Costa celebrated his call-up to the Spanish call with a double to further enhance his form and reputation and now without midweek exertions in Europe and terrific home form (12 wins from 13) a home victory seems likely.

Recommendation: Atletico Madrid to win at 1.74

Lyon v Sochaux (8pm)

Inconsistency has crept in at just the wrong time for Lyon who held realistic ambitions of keeping pace with Paris St Germain. The Parisiaens are in danger of cruising to the title – Lyon are winless in three and have triumphed only twice in seven, not the form of champions.

Remi Garde’s men were dour against Marseille three weeks ago and subsequently endured another Corsican catastrophe, going down 4-1 at Bastia. That said they really ought to roll over 18th-placed Sochaux who have shipped seven goals in two away outings and have managed only one Ligue One victory in eight attempts.

Recommendation: Lyon (-1) on the handicap at 2.32

That just proves, anything above the treble line and bang it’s game over, and 2 games that should have been pretty safe for a 4 fold and a 5 fold as well letting me down, just shows you, keep your selections down.

Paddy, everyone knows the tips overall in the last month or so from all contributors have been pretty good. Of course we can’t put up 100 per cent winners.

  10. Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Stevie Boy, your comments suggest you’re a loser. People who visit this site every day will be in profit.

    • Rick 11 years ago

I’m not in profit this weekend Mr F. :(
Wins for Madrid and Lyon coupled with a late Sociedad comeback would be well in order though :)

Don’t care what anyone says, yourself, Milesey and Bounty Punter do a good job in my opinion.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Rick, Sociedad was never a banker bet but it was a value bet. People need to look at the odds and understand that. I can you give 1-5s and 1-6s until they’re coming out your ears. Most will win but that wouldn’t be telling folk anything they didn’t know. My super singles show a profit every year but are never under evens. Hopefully Atletico and Lyon will live up to their billing.

You’re spot on Mr F. Sociedad were 6/4 I think which means the bookies give the team a 40% chance of winning or thereabouts. You and Milesey (he tipped them too) felt they had a better chance than that and tipped accordingly.

Personally, I don’t ‘expect’ teams over evens to win but bet if I feel they have a better chance than the odds reflect. I’m always delighted when they win :)

    • Milesey 11 years ago

      I TIPPED THE DRAW
      “””””””””””
Espanyol v Real Sociedad (Sun 18.00)

Real Sociedad are unbeaten in ten games now and look like a team firmly on an upward curve, demonstrated by humbling Valladolid 4-1 in their last fixture. That victory has earned them sole possession of fourth place and a determined Espanyol side awaits them. Los Periquitos are a tough nut to crack on home soil and haven’t lost since November at fortress Estadi Cornella El Prat. Sociedad will be seeking revenge as the reverse fixture finished with a 1-0 away win for Espanyol, but with neither side giving any quarter, the draw looks a sound bet..

      Draw at 3.30

    • Rick 11 years ago

      My apologies Milesey!

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Rick, Milesey might have tipped the draw but was on Deportivo who were a big price at Mallorca. I mentioned but didn’t back them. My btts treble has me fairly satisfied for the day an I have a second btts treble that needs goals in Lyon-Sochaux.

  11. Tony 11 years ago

It’s hard to get a good profit is it not? Unless u have big money to lump on singles or doubles

  12. Tony 11 years ago

Has any1 ever had a look at socervista does the person do the tips for a joke or what?

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Tony, it’s easier than you think to make profit and you don’t have to bet big. Punters have decide whether they want to make profit or whether they want to try to hit a big one. Also those who are in it for a long-term profit should follow Milesey’s advice and try to back and lay.

    • Sean Ireland 11 years ago

The last time i went into a betting office handing over a docket to the lady behind the counter i announced i was expecting to ”lay”with a tenner, there was a scream and the sound of a bottle being smashed as i was escorted from the premises,i strongly advise againt trying to lay anything.

When a first started a chased big winners Paul. They are obv not easy to get. A usually try 4 or 5 homes just for fun but obv to get some winners. But it still does not pay Off as much as I would like. A suppose it’s a risky game 4 or 5 picks need to get the luck. A hit 3 big winners last season. Not really a betting man. But the love of football makes me b

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Tony, you should do no more than trebles then when you build up some profit throw a tenner here or there on five from six at around about evens just now and again or perm three draws from four every month or so. Build up the small wins and try hit a big one a couple of times a season and you will do OK.

  19. Tony 11 years ago

Good picks milesey but a would have taking psv all day long especially going for the title

    • Milesey 11 years ago

      “”””””LAY OF THE DAY
      ————–
Title chasing PSV are long odds-on for their trip to Roda JC in the Dutch Eredivisie this morning but they could suffer a surprise setback.

Roda JC are down in 16th place in the league, which is the final remaining relegation play-off place. This is obviously disappointing for a club who finished 10th last year, but it’s quite tight down at the bottom and they are only four points behind PEC Zwolle who are 13th.

The international break came at a good time for Ruud Brood’s men as they had just lost back to back games for the first time since November. In fairness to Roda, both defeats were by a single goal margin and prior to that they hammered Groningen 4-1.

The 0-1 loss to Feyenoord ended a run of five unbeaten at Parkstad Limburg Stadion for the club from Kerkrade. It was also the first time in four that they’d failed to score a goal as before that blank, they had treated their fans to 11 in 360 minutes of home football.

PSV are looking to reclaim the crown that they last won in 2008. They are currently second in the league, just a single point behind leaders Ajax, with a far superior goal difference. They got back to winning ways in their last match by beating RKC Waalwijk 2-0 but they are prone to the odd slip up, as highlighted by the 2-1 defeat at Heerenveen at the beginning of March.

Dick Advocaat’s side have struggled on the road of late, and in truth, they haven’t been that great away all season for a team in their position. The Peasants have won just six of 13 away from home and they’ve picked up only one point from a possible nine since the end of January.

A further concern for Advocaat is that Luciano Narsingh remains sidelined through injury and Dries Mertens is suspended, and he’s netted 15 goals for PSV this season.

Clearly PSV are the most likely team to win this match and they are the worthy favourites. I just feel their odds of 1.42 are just too short though, especially given their recent away form. That’s why, at the prices, I have to make them my lay of the day.

What about 4 or 5 homes for tomorrow milesey. A know it’s risky. But am not talking 2 pound for hundreds back. maybe about the 30 mark. Cardiff, Leyton orient, sheff utd, Bournemouth, Gillingham. A take it u would never recommend these bets to a punter

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Tony, Milesey might put up 4 or 5 homes but he’ll advise you do them as singles. If you want to do the accer that’s your choice.
