As for St Johnstone, their relegation fears have heightened as they now find themselves six points adrift of guaranteed safety.
The bookmakers’ odds suggest that the Saints' current three-game unbeaten run will be snapped this weekend, with in-form Hibernian general 4/6 shots to take top honours on Saturday afternoon.
However, I'm happier focussing on an alternative market, with Hibernian to deliver over 1.5 team goals trading at an eye-catching 17/20 with William Hill.
The Hibees have been a team and a club transformed since the tail end of 2024, avoiding defeat in each of their last 14 Scottish Premiership matches.
Drill deeper and it can be seen that Hibs have collected maximum points from nine of those 14 contests, including home wins over the likes of Aberdeen, Celtic and arch-rivals Hearts.
The capital club struck exactly twice in each of those three above-mentioned victories, not to mention they made the net bulge on three occasions when playing out a 3-3 draw with Rangers at Easter Road back in January.
In fact, Hibs have hit two or more goals in 10 of their last 16 top flight tussles, further suggesting that a couple of goals should be within range against rock-bottom St Johnstone on Saturday.
Simo Valakari's side have shipped multiple goals in 18 of their 30 Scottish Premiership assignments this season, including 10 of their 15 matches away from their McDiarmid Park base.
On top of all that, the relegation-threatened Saints’ backline was breached on two instances when they last visited this venue during the early months of the campaign.
Thus, a repeat could well be in the offing at Easter Road this weekend, making the high-flying hosts an attractive option to deliver a minimum of two goals at 17/20 (William Hill) against bottom club St Johnstone.
