SlipsTips shares a selection ahead of Man City’s showdown with Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Man City vs Liverpool (Sunday, 16:30)
The marquee match-up from this weekend’s Premier League slate sees Manchester City and Liverpool lock horns at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon.
The Citizens will be looking to bounce back from their Champions League exit at Real Madrid in midweek, while the Reds will have the chance to extend their lead a the top of the table following Arsenal's shock 1-0 loss at home to West Ham on Saturday.
I’ve already covered this showdown in a separate match preview but I’ve since identified another selection that I’m more than happy to propose at the odds on offer.
Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister has been priced up at 5/6 on Betfair to commit two or more fouls during this contest and that looks worthy of support at the Etihad.
The Reds midfielder has given away his fair share of free-kicks this season, a number of which have been suitably punished by top flight referee’s this term.
In fact, Mac Allister is statistically the most prevalent fouler on Liverpool’s side this season, averaging 1.88 fouls per game in the Premier League.
A digger deep would suggest that the Argentine ace increases his level of aggression when Liverpool are operating away from their Anfield headquarters.
That is evidenced by the fact that Mac Allister has committed two or more fouls in eight of his last nine Premier League appearances away from home.
What’s more, six of the 10 yellow cards that Mac Allister has racked up across his 36 appearances in all competitions this season have come away from the Reds’ Merseyside base.
Thus, a minimum of two misdemeanours from the 26-year-old on Sunday holds plenty of appeal at 5/6, especially given the calibre of opposition that he will be coming up against.
Team news permitting, Mac Allister will likely be operating in the same spaces of the pitch as Man City playmaker Phil Foden.
The Stockport-born star is drawing 1.30 fouls per 90 for City in the Premier League this season, not to mention he was brought down twice against Real Madrid last time out.
