Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen (Saturday, 17:30)
Bayern Munich and Bayern Leverkusen do battle in a huge heavyweight clash at the top of the Bundesliga on Saturday evening.
New Bayern boss Vincent Kompany has enjoyed a dream start to life at the Allianz Arena, steering his side to six wins from six across all competitions.
In fact, the Bavarians are the only side to bank maximum points from each of their four Bundesliga matches this season so far, though reigning champions Leverkusen are occupying second spot and breathing down their necks.
That being said, Xabi Alonso’s side had their historic unbeaten run stopped by RB Leipzig last month, and they now face the daunting prospect of going up against free-scoring Bayern in their own backyard.
Bayern Munich are firm 8/11 favourites on Saturday but I’m instead going to follow a familiar theme by backing Harry Kane to hit the back of the net at 17/20 on Bet 365.
No player has scored more goals in the Bundesliga than Kane this season, who notched for the fifth time in the league during last week’s 5-0 win over Werder Bremen
That strike came fresh off the back of four goals in Bayern’s 9-2 demolition of Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League last midweek, so Kane appears to be at the peak of his powers at present.
Admittedly, Bayer Leverkusen will represent both Bayern and Kane's toughest challenge of the season to date. However, Alonso’s side has been leaking goals at an alarming rate across the opening stretch of the season.
The Black and Reds have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their four Bundesliga outings this season, shipping a combined total of nine goals along the way, including three at home to Wolfsburg last weekend.
That defensive fragility does not bode well ahead of Saturday evening’s heavyweight clash with a Bayern side that have banged in 25 goals across their last five matches, with Kane helping himself to nine of those.
It’s also worth noting that Kane got himself on the scoresheet in last season’s corresponding fixture between the pair.
Given that all the ingredients are in place for an entertaining contest, backing Bayern Munich’s goal machine to make his mark looks too big to ignore at 17/20 (UniBet).
