Aston Villa will look to keep their momentum going in the Premier League when they host Fulham on Saturday night.
After failing to win any of their opening four top-flight fixtures, Unai Emery’s side have taken 10 points from the last 12 on offer, with last weekend’s 2-1 Villa Park victory over Manchester City the pick of the bunch.
Fulham were also slow out of the traps, but back-to-back 1-0 wins over Hull and Coventry have lifted the capital club out of the relegation zone and eased the pressure on new manager Alvaro Arbeloa.
However, those wins came against two of the three newly promoted sides, so this will be a much tougher test for Arbeloa and his players.
Even with Fulham arriving in better spirits, I’m surprised to see Villa as big as 10/11 to take all three points, given their recent form and the fact that Villa Park has long been a fortress under Emery’s watch.
That price looks too big to ignore, particularly with the added bonus that an early payout is secured if Villa go two goals in front.
Villa have won six of their last eight matches across all competitions, with Wednesday’s 3-0 EFL Cup defeat away at Bournemouth their only real blot on the copybook.
Emery fielded an understrength side in midweek, so the defeat should not overshadow the momentum they have built of late.
His side have recently thrashed Fenerbahce 6-0 at home and put Viking to the sword 3-1 in the Champions League.
The Villans have claimed other eye-catching wins in recent times, beating Tottenham and Newcastle, so they should be confident of collecting another three points on Saturday night.
For all of Fulham’s recent improvement, two of their four Premier League away defeats this term have come at Sunderland and Ipswich, which does not bode well for a trip to Villa Park.
All things considered, Villa look good value to get the job done at a shade under even money with bet365.
