After delivering a clean sweep of winners in his featured columns last weekend, SlipsTips shares a selection from Saturday's SPFL slate.

Airdrie vs Inverness CT (Saturday, 15:00)

Two teams that have made contrasting starts to the new season meet at the Penny Cars Stadium on Saturday, as Airdrie play host to Inverness in the Scottish Championship.

After posting a perfect four wins from four during the Scottish League Cup group stages, the Diamonds staged a dramatic comeback to draw 3-3 with Ross County last weekend, before the Staggies' eventually secured their spot in the last-eight during extra-time.

Having earned a well-deserved 2-1 win over Partick Thistle in their last league game a fortnight ago, Rhys McCabe's men resume their league campaign this weekend against an Inverness side that have endured a sticky start to the season

The Caley Jags’ run to last season’s Scottish Cup final must seem like a distant memory following their poor start to the new campaign, with Billy Dodds’ side exiting the Viaplay Cup with a bit of a whimper before starting the Scottish Championship season with back-to-back defeats against Queen’s Park and Ayr United respectively.

As such, in-form Airdrie will have their backers this weekend at a general 11/10, however I'm instead going to follow a familiar theme by siding with Over 2.5 goals at 20/23 (Betfair).

This particular bet has proven profitable in each of my last two Saturday columns in regards to Airdrie and I see no reason to oppose the same play at the Penny Cars this weekend.

The Diamonds have become one of Scotland’s great entertainers under Rhys McCabe's tutorship and it is already apparent that they are going to remain true to their forward-thinking principles in the second tier this term.

Airdrie’s attacking intensity was clear to see in their aforementioned 3-3 thriller with top-flight Ross County last time out and the threat that they carry in the final third does not bode well for out-of-sorts Inverness.

Billy Dodds’ backline has been breached in each of their six competitive contests this season so far, a sample that includes cup ties against League Two duo Bonnyrigg Rose and Dumbarton.

However, the Highlanders did manage to hit the back of the net in four of those six matches, so they should be capable of creating opportunities against an Airdrie side whose gung-ho approach does tend to leave them exposed at times.

The North Lanarkshire outfit have leaked at least one goal in each of their last three matches, not to mention they conceded twice when triumphing 3-2 against this weekend’s visitors Inverness in what was another chaotic Scottish League Cup tie involving the Diamonds just last month

Therefore, with all things considered, the 20/23 (Betfair) on this fixture featuring Over 2.5 Goals has to be considered as an early season value selection at the Penny Cars on Saturday.
